    Brew Cooper without Beer enhancer

I’ve been brewing Cooper’s beer for a while and to answer your question directly, the answer is yes you can use just regular sugar but you may want to try corn sugar instead which should also be readily available at your local grocery. There are many articles on the flavor and mouth feel of...

Viability of Using a Dishwasher’s Sanitize Setting

Lots to think about thanks to everyone’s contributions to this thread. I think I’ll try it on the next few batches and see what happens. Unfortunately my dishwasher does not hold enough bottles for an entire batch, so I can’t leave them in until I’m ready. I’ll have to do a couple of cycles to...

Viability of Using a Dishwasher’s Sanitize Setting

I had actually said “with NO Pods” I do have one of those bottle washers that fit on the tap but it won’t fit on our modern kitchen faucet where I do all my brewing. I also have two Avvinatores and a bottle tree. But like the name of the tread states, I wanted to discuss the viability of...

Viability of Using a Dishwasher’s Sanitize Setting

😳😆 Good to know! Kinda like adding normal dish soap or laundry detergent in the dishwasher.

Viability of Using a Dishwasher’s Sanitize Setting

That is quite a valid point. Maybe I should do a test and let some milk dry for a few days in the bottom of a few bottles and see how well the jets reach the bottom of them.

Viability of Using a Dishwasher’s Sanitize Setting

Everything I wash is done by hand. I haven’t used the dishwasher to wash anything and my Cooper’s 23L fermenter will definitely not fit! 😜 I try and not use actual soap and if I did, I would rinse feverishly as when using bleach to sanitize. I have recently discovered using OXY Powder as a...

Viability of Using a Dishwasher’s Sanitize Setting

I know the sanitize setting on dishwashers have been around for a while and older dishwashers may have had questionable results. With the newer dishwashers on the market (We have a newer all stainless interior BOSH) how well do you all think they actually “sanitize” (even inside). I was...

Not sure if i should dry hop Coopers brew a IPA

Wondering what became of this brew. Mayki did you dry hop? How much and did it turn out? I just did a Cooper’s IPA that I used 12 grams of dry hops in the primary. Then brewed a hop tea that I added to secondary and let it sit for 48hrs before bottling. Taste tested on bottling day and had a...

    Potassium Metabisulfite Question

Wow this thread has definitely grown from the OP, into way more info than I expected! I’ll have to try and wrap my head around some of these terms everyone are discussing.

If you have enough tubing you could run your tubing into a dish of sanitizer or “vodka”.

What type of brew? Stouts can be quite volatile.

    Uh oh!!!

I agree you have to be Uber careful with bleach which is what I am. So far so good! I go by smell Also as I’m hyper sensitive to the smell of bleach or chlorine. I know you can’t rely on smell alone but I do keep me bleach/water solutions low. I will be resorting to StarSan for sanitation but I...

    Uh oh!!!

I’ve actually heard of that too, just forgot about that until you mentioned it. I’ve always got some 100 proof. 😜
  17. VikingBrewer

    Uh oh!!!

I personally use just a water/bleach solution. 1tsp to gallon (4L) of water. Or you could use StarSan solution. I don’t use plain water as I’m paranoid of an infection. But others may say water is just fine.

Using Extract Beer Kits Past Expiration Date

Yesterday was bottling day for this old Cooper’s IPA with dry hops in primary and hop tea infused secondary. Taste tested and, in my opinion, considering this was made with Extract with a best before date of 17/02/03, with the additions of the extra hops, this is so far a very drinkable brew...

    Potassium Metabisulfite Question

I just used this formula today “for sanitation” of my bottles, it’s what came up when I googled the ratio to sanitize. Usually I used a teaspoon of bleach to 4 liters and rinse thoroughly.

Using Extract Beer Kits Past Expiration Date

The saga continues, Day 14. Well here we go, either this will be wonderful or a big flop! Finally adding the hop tea I made the other day to the IPA. Racking off into the secondary fermenter taking in account to minimize adding any oxygenation. Now to sit and settle for 48hrs before bottling.
