Folks born after 1990 only know the library as the room full of books you cut through to get to the cafeteria.

    How likely are bottle bombs?

I've had bombs from two separate batches. It's certainly not fun and a bit scary when you're trying to clean up the mess and get rid of the remaining bottles which are ticking timebombs. The sound of a bottle exploding and glass shards flying about is very unpleasant. (although I kinda like the...

    Cold Conditioning to Bottles Question

My pumpkin ale (got a late start on things) has been in 50 degree secondary for two weeks now. This is my first time conditioning at low temperatures so I was wondering if I have to do anything out of the ordinary when it comes to bottling this weekend. My main concern is: is the yeast in...

    Help with reusing yeast

Again, thank you for the quick responses. The second beer I'm making is pretty much an experimental beer which will be the product of leftover supplies. I don't typically carry a big inventory and figured all I needed to make one more batch was yeast. Atypical of a Koelsch, I used 4.5lbs...

    Help with reusing yeast

I brewed a Koelsch which has been in primary for 3 weeks and over the weekend transferred it to secondary. I then poured the cooled wort that I just brewed on the remaining yeast on the bottom of the primary bucket. However, there was a LITTLE bit of liquid from the previous batch still in the...

    Amarillo Hefe?

I vote to try with the Amarillo hops. You can buy a traditional hefe at the liquor store. Try something different and if you don't like it, well it's only a half batch. I made a half batch of hefe bittering with Phoenix and aroma-ing with Sterling. Oddly enough, it tastes awesome and even my...

Injected Air in to Secondary by Mistake...Is my Brew Done For???

Thanks for the heads up zero. I just threw 48 bottles of my oxygenated brew against a brick wall. BTW, WTF does RDWHAHB stand for?

Injected Air in to Secondary by Mistake...Is my Brew Done For???

I used the bottling attachment that goes on the easy siphon tubing for the first time yesterday. Stupid me held the attachment in one hand, as I pumped the siphon to get things flowing. Not realizing (read, being a moron) that I was supposed to put the bottler inside a bottle as to begin the...

    Bulk grain from Midwest

I like the Midwest guys. I've ordered from them plenty of times and always happy with the timeliness and no mistakes. They package everything well. Their prices (including shipping) are better than the nearest place to me here in CT.

Bad Batch After Bad Batch After Bad Batch!!!

Maybe boiling any loose components that won't melt might help. That way the hot water can get in every little crevice. Can also try filling your buckets/carboys up with boiled water and let it soak?

    AWESOME Bud Light Clone!!!

WOW, come in to work the next morning to find over 400 views and a bunch of angry people. As NWernBrewer says above, it WAS just a joke. I've read a ton of all of your guys' posts, thanked you for your invaluable tips and advice, and got the impression that we were a lighthearted group of...

    Kristallweizen

I lived in Braunschweig from September 2002 to about April 2004, doing a semester abroad, 6 month internship at Siemens, and 6 months of putzing around before entering the real world. I thank Braunschweig and Germany on the whole for introducing me to real beer. Thanks for all the tips guys!
