    CO2 Tank Leak

Thanks for the reply. These are TapRite regulators, and have the rubber (maybe plastic?) o-ring at the connection. I'll give the teflon tape a go and see if it's coming from the regulator/tank connection. The funny thing is that the hissing might occur when the knob on the tank is in one...

    CO2 Tank Leak

I have a CO2 tank that, when turning the tank knob, I hear a hissing sound. Seems like it's coming from the tank itself and not from the regulator. I assume this is possible but I never noticed it before, and I've been using this tank for the better part of 2 years at this point (albeit it's...

CO2 comes out of solution in beer line

This makes much more sense, should have realized what you meant. I'm thinking the liquid diptube o-ring is most likely the culprit. After looking at a few from my other kegs, they look like they are starting to look a bit worn. Got new o-rings and will check for the next beer I brew. Thanks...

CO2 comes out of solution in beer line

Thanks for the tips everyone. When this one kicks (which should be soon), I'll be checking the posts and the o-rings. Didn't notice any leaking, but doesn't hurt. As for a temperature differential along the line, nothing sticks out to me as to which would cause one. It's no different than...

CO2 comes out of solution in beer line

In my keezer, I've got one keg which after every pour, tiny bubbles of what I assume is CO2 form in the beer line between the keg and faucet. After a while, most of the line is gas and results in a foamy pour. However, the other keg I've got in there is perfectly fine. Keezer temperature...

Expensive Chicken Wings w/ Fast Food Pizza

I know it's not the same, but thinly sliced chicken thigh meat, dredged in rice flour/corn starch (60/40), skewered on kabob sticks, and fried in 370F oil for a few minutes. Douse in a sauce and enjoy. Does pretty good in a pinch!

Keg temperature inconsistent with temperature controller

After insulating the jug of water from the sides/bottom of the freezer, lowering the nominal temperature, and lowering the temperature differential for when the compressor kicks on, the beer is now around 41 degrees. Think that's good enough for now, thanks everyone!

Keg temperature inconsistent with temperature controller

Sorry, I forgot that info.. I've got a wooden collar on the keezer with faucets going through, no picnic taps. Also have a computer fan wired in there spinning constantly. It's odd, I feel like I've got it all set up right but it doesn't want to work for me! haha Though maybe I'll toss one...

Keg temperature inconsistent with temperature controller

I'm not sure if that will cause a 10F change, but I'll definitely give that a try to see if it helps. Thanks!

Keg temperature inconsistent with temperature controller

The thermometer I tested the poured beer with was also put in the jug, which was essentially the same as the probe on the keezer. Also tested the beer with a spare Inkbird and another thermometer because I didnt believe it, but they were also in the 50F ballpark. So I think the temperature...

Keg temperature inconsistent with temperature controller

For my keezer, I've got an Inkbird temperature controller with the probe in a gallon jug of water inside. The jug is sitting on a small panel of styrofoam to insulate it from the floor (similar for the wall it is near). The controller is set to 36F +/- 3F. When I poured a pint yesterday, just...

Pre- and Post-Boil Mash Efficiency Calcs Different

I'm calculating it on my own, but they are similar to any online calculator. I'm using a refractometer to measure. Think there is just an inherent uncertainty with this for reading the blurred blue line, so I will probably use both hydrometer and refractometer next time to compare the two...

Pre- and Post-Boil Mash Efficiency Calcs Different

I calculate my mash efficiency at both pre-boil and post-boil. Given that gravity*volume is constant during the boil, the mash efficiency should theoretically be the same between the two. I usually brew with a 15gal kettle and the differences between the two calculations were maybe 2...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Interesting. I was thinking about doing my mash like this but was worried about efficiency. But 79% for mash efficiency is great in my books. Do you know what gap you set your mill to when you crush the grains?

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I mean, maybe it won't. I haven't tried. I just figured the grain will just be a giant mass at the bottom of the bag and will leak/drip outside the Foundry.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Just recently got a 10.5gal Foundry and am pretty excited to use it. Though, my main concern is efficiency. Had it pretty nailed down/consistent with my BIAB setup in a 10 gallon boil kettle. Seems the malt pipe will take a hit on efficiency because of the dead space, needing a bigger crush...

What I did for beer today

Finished setting up the kegerator in my new house, tracked down a CO2 leak... And kegged an IPA. Good day.

Thanks guys. Definitely will be checking those out. Itching to brew some more but am still trying to find all of my equipment... Haha
