Should My Beverage Lines Be Connected?

So hook it up to gas. 2 to 3 weeks later connect beverage. Makes sense.

Should My Beverage Lines Be Connected?

Should I hook up my beverage lines immediately to my keg after racking or wait until carbing & conditioning is complete. In other words, will the beer in the lines carbonate and condition at all or the same rate as the actual beer in the keg. The reason I am asking is that I am new to...

First All Grain Batch This Weekend

I have an inline chlorine filter connected to a potable (RV) hose for my tap water. Is that sufficient? Although not received yet, I sent away my water to get a water report for brewing. I understand it is more important for all grain. Newbie here but have been soaking information in daily from...

First All Grain Batch This Weekend

I will be brewing my first all grain batch using 10 gallon converted round coolers. Even made my own mash paddle. Any quick tips that the group can provide so I don't learn the hard way? I have 8 extract brews under my belt which have turned out great (minus the first one which fermented at...

    Cold crash? Yes or no?

Little confused. By dropping yeast out of suspension when cold crashing, does this negatively affect the aging process in the bottle/keg. My beers always taste better after 2 or 3 weeks and I always thought this was the yeast still doing their job. I understand the clearer beer but isn't the...

Dry Hopping & Cold Crashing (Timing & Temp)

I think I am going to skip cold crashing, then dry hop at the two week mark for 7 additional days. Then check gravity to make sure I can rack.

Dry Hopping & Cold Crashing (Timing & Temp)

So cold crash, then return to regular temp to dry hop for seven days. So cold crash before dry hopping?

Dry Hopping & Cold Crashing (Timing & Temp)

I have 5 gallons of a black IPA which has been in the primary for 7 days. I am a fairly new brewer (about 8 extract recipes) and my typical process has been to leave in the primary for 3 weeks, which takes out the doubt of whether fermentation is complete and reduces checking gravity too often...

    Perfect thanks

    AHS Blue Moon Clone

Again, a newbie here, but I only boiled 3 total gallons of water per the recipe. Should I boil the full amount or top off the fermenter at the end to get the full 5 gallons.

    AHS Blue Moon Clone

Temp corrected I am even higher. I topped to 5 1/4 gallons per the recipe. Agreed, could have stirred better. Tried to stir in the glass fermenter through the little hole. I am sure a bucket would have worked out better. Thanks for the pointers:). Trying to figure this all out.

    AHS Blue Moon Clone

Also, mine was 1.056 and the recipe calls for 1.053. Is mine acceptable? Why would it be higher?

    AHS Blue Moon Clone

Thanks for the reply. Sure enough right in front of my face on the paper, the OG. I swear I looked 5 times. In any case, I probably will skip the secondary based on your recommendation and other threads I read.

    AHS Blue Moon Clone

New to home brewing and the forums. Brewed my second batch today, the blue moon clone extract kit from AHS. Couple of questions: - My OG was 1.056. Could not find reference to what it should be. Does this sound right? - I have been reading the boards and most say secondary fermentation is not...
