What I did for beer today

Brewing a reduced ABV wet mash hop Pliny. I’m sitting outside in the shade as it’s hot in the garage/brew space 90 min boil and I’m almost to whirl pool additions, then chill, transfer and pitch

    What are you drinking now?

Drinking a glass of my “Alameda Wet Hop Pale Ale”. Kegged it just a couple days ago. Homebrew club member turned me on to ~3 lbs of cascade/centennial hop, I brewed the next morning. Mild bitterness and distinctive aroma. And thick micro fine lasting head. ~6%

    Anyone lager in a keg?

Thanks Dland! I appreciate getting a real answer to my question. I more than likely will not go that far. But that’s good food for thought. Thanks, jw

    Anyone lager in a keg?

I was hoping for some discussion and how others are doing it, so I could learn. I understand the advantages, I've fermented in a keg but haven't really used a keg for extended lager'ing.

    Anyone lager in a keg?

I recently upgraded my brewing setup to a Brewbuilt X3 conical w/Icemaster Max2. Got the everything from Brewhardware, as usual a positive experience. I'm on my 2nd batch fermenting in the X3 and have been putting together the parts to lager in a keg. I got the idea from a brew club member...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

I’m loving my R2, took me a while to get it figured out. But now I’m roasting some pretty good coffee. And really love being able to replicated roasts, creating a recipe from a previous roast and making tweaks to it.👍

Brewbuilt kit for fermenting under pressure w/ spunding

The side one had me confused. BrewBuilt is not very forthcoming with documentation. That thing is humungous. I’m going to try everything out this weekend. I ran the X3 with water at 50 degrees for two days temp stayed constant, so the Max2 seems to ok. With front controllers off rear controller...

Brewbuilt kit for fermenting under pressure w/ spunding

I've been fermenting under pressure for quite a while, with a Fermzilla and Kegland spunding valve. But this Brewbuilt spunding valve is next level. I'm planning to brew in the next few days and I could use a little walk through by someone that's been there done that. I understand how to...

Process flow with new to me X3 conical and Max2 Glycol chiller

Hi Bobby, Thanks for the info. I may tackle this after I get a chance to use it a bit. Happy trails brewing member posted a link to a YouTube video and Kegland's wiring diagram. Have you seen either of them? Thanks again for everything. I might brew something later this week with my new toys.

Process flow with new to me X3 conical and Max2 Glycol chiller

Thanks! I’ll take a look. I’m taking it slow, just testing it now, doing a dry run till I understand how it operates, then I’ll work on that. I appreciate the info.

Process flow with new to me X3 conical and Max2 Glycol chiller

Thanks for the information. Do you have a schematic/connection diagram?

Process flow with new to me X3 conical and Max2 Glycol chiller

So my X3 conical, IceMaster Max2 and lots of accessories arrived. I've been busy getting familiar with the pieces, cleaning/sanitizing/pressure/leak testing. Now I have questions related to work flow. I'm coming from a Fermzilla conical/w/jacket, TempTwister, 10 gal Igloo cooler with pump and...

What came in the mail for you today?

Xmas in July. Received my order from Brewhardware today! I was not happy UPS just left it on the front walkway, didn’t ring the doorbell. At least nobody ran off with it. I’ve got some unpacking to do

    Going Back To BIAB

My wife and I are empty nesters, I sold my sports car (garage squatter) bought a EBIAB system from Bobby and now have a dedicated brew space.

What I did for beer today

I use a .5 liter smart water bottle, add gelatin / biofine, have a carb cap /w Evabarrier tube to bottom, purge with co2 then pressurize it. Transfer with purged jumper. Works really well. YMMV

    Chaff Removal

With my Behmor I used a ShopVac Hangup to deal with chaff. I bought an Aillio Bullet R2, and chaff is no longer an issue. Here’s a picture of a Sumatra Dry process I roasted yesterday City+, these beans are not uniform in color, but makes a wonderful Sumatra espresso.

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

I’m local to Admiral too. Live in Alameda. I mostly use GW Premium Pilsen, or Pure California 2-Row. But do buy Admiral malts on occasion. It’s really good but pricey.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Hmm. That sounds like an idea.
