Priming sugar for multiple batch sizes

I brewed a five gallon Belgian blond from extract. I'm experimenting with yeasts I harvested. I made a 3 gallon batch using the yeast that came with the kit and two 1 gallon batches using the yeasts I harvested. I'm getting ready to bottle. Regarding priming sugar, I have two dilemmas. First...

How do I know when I have enough yeast to pitch?

I've stepped them up to 2L batches of wort twice. After the first batch settled out, I took most of the beer off and started them up again with fresh wort. One is in a 2L flask, the other is in a 1 gal carboy. I would say the one in the 2L flask is probably 1/4 inch or so. That's the one from...

How do I know when I have enough yeast to pitch?

I decided to mess around and harvest yeast from a bottle. I've been feeding it Fast Pitch, building it up in steps. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the wort I had made started fermenting too. Obviously I didn't sanitize the growler I stored the wort in well enough. Now I have two...

    Adventures in yeast harvesting?

Ha Ha smiley face and all that... I didn't sip from the starter. I have been known to drink from a milk jug though...

    Adventures in yeast harvesting?

So. I made a batch of Fast Pitch to feed some yeast I harvested from a bottle. Today I took a sip from the starter, just cuz I'm learning. I then went to taste the Fast Pitch, again, cuz I'm learning. I had stored that in a growler I sanitized with starsan. When I opened it, it fizzed like a...

    Harvesting from a bottle

Thanks for the link and advice. Excited about this! Planning on stepping up my game from extract to BIAB. Hopefully the combination of harvesting yeast and BIAB for the first time isn't toomuch. Then again, you can't learn until you get in over your head and figure out how to swim.

    Harvesting from a bottle

I did dilute 1:1. I started slow. 200 ml of wort at first and stepped it up every couple of days. Not much activity for the first few days. On the 5th day things started happening. For a minute I thought I had an infection or a wild yeast. Then whatever was growing on top settled in. Now just a...

    Harvesting from a bottle

The beer is Relic. Brewed by Draai Laag. They have since changed their name to Strange Roots. I contacted them and they said the yeast in the bottle is the yeast they brewed with. From the smell of what I've got going, I'm pretty certain its the same.

    Harvesting from a bottle

I've harvested some yeast from a bottle. I took it from a farmhouse ale I liked. The label says the brewery isolated the yeast from a 17th century piece of furniture. Anyway, I have the yeast working on a Fast Pitch wort, about 1 liter. It was slow to get started. Its been chugging along for...
