Liquid tight type K, 4 inch probe, 1/2" NPT Thread and mini connector

the connector is a type k miniature (pretty standard) the jack you plug in looks like this: http://www.omega.com/ppt/pptsc.asp?ref=MPJ I can supply a panel jack for a few bucks more if you need one. Also, know that the miniature type k connector is flat bladed. Who knows what your multimeter...

    Lager yeast starter step-up

Edit. I see your numbers now.. So if I need a 2.5 liter starter - and I have one 100 billion cell capsule and a 2 liter flask - what would be the best way to step this?

    Lager yeast starter step-up

Making my first Lager... (1.048 OG) I have a 2 liter Erlenmeyer flask. I am going to pitch this cold so I know I'll know I need high yeast numbers. I have one yeast tube from Wyeast, stir plate and yeast nutrients. I need around 350 billion yeast cells. I have been looking at Mr...

    thermocouple mash tun reading problems

Interesting. Well, I guess that explains a lot. I've always seen this variability - and seems to settle down a 1/2 hr later.. or so. Surprising this isn't referenced in Palmer's book or the like. Was hard for me to figure out if this was an instrumentation issue or what. Initially...

favorite false bottom for boil keggle

That's pretty cool. So, I basically gave up on pellet hops and use leaf hops exclusively. I changed my downtube so that it has a T on the end of it with two 4 inch stubs with slots on the bottom of it. Does a fine job and I discovered that with my hop supplier (Brew Brothers and Hops...

    upgrading my thermometers

Ed, Where did you source your RTD's? I've heard mixed things about Auber's RTD probes.... Though looks like I can get some, slightly more expensive probes from Omega Engineering..... Though it seems to get probes with a three pin disconnect from them, you'll be paying a premium. But since...

    thermocouple mash tun reading problems

I have been getting some variable temperature readings in my mash tun with a type K thermocouple probe. http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=27 I mash in, stir the holy hell out of the the mash and then take a reading and often times I get about...

    upgrading my thermometers

I'm in the works of thinking of how to set up a an Auber PID to to become my new digital thermometer and later employ it to run a RIMS or HERMS system (still debating on which one I'll do, leaning towards HERMS) Anyhow, I currently have a type K thermocouple with a 1/2 NPT and cord dangling off...

HOW TO: Wire an Auber SYL-2362A2 PID for a Fridge

I've looked in the literature for the Auber PID and I don't see it listing the Alarm rating for voltage. Maybe they are the same as the relay voltage? I like the idea of using a PID to control a chest freezer - good for summer and then in the winter time, since it's in my unheated garage...

    whirlpool whole hops, converted keg

So, I've been thinking of adding a return line to my boil kettle so I can create a whirlpool in my wort and try to separate out some of my trub/hop matter. Then I can pass the worh thru my counter flow chiller. Anyhow, my question is, will a whirlpool work for whole hops too? I usually use a...

favorite false bottom for boil keggle

Well that's my question. I want to know if a jaybird's or anyone's false bottom will filter the whole hops, but let the pellet hops pass thru. I'm just interested in having good flow to my CFC and dealing with the pellet hops in the carboy.

    Jaybird's Stainless False Bottoms

Jay, how does your false bottom hold up against pellet hops in the boil kettle (never used a FB, so...) I'm hoping they pass right thru? Looking for a solution for heavy IBU beers with pellet/whole hops mixes... Thanks!

favorite false bottom for boil keggle

I've tried a variation of the hop sack... But beyond utilization, I am not a huge fan of dangling a plastic sack, made of who-knows-what into my wort. I mean, there's enough plastic stuff in the world that you really shouldn't expose to boiling temperatures. So, rather than guess about if...

favorite false bottom for boil keggle

Just trying to get an idea of what people like for false bottoms on their keg boil kettles. I brew lots of IPA's and Pale Ales that usually have a mix of leaf hops and pellets. Just looking for a way to filter out my whole hops, and let the pellet junk go thru to the carboy. I've found...
