    Brewhemoth conicals?

Lennie, thanks for the response. 1 - why wouldn't you just dump the trub and yeast before you rack from the bottom? 2 - will the probe get a good reading if it is not in liquid? I don't have a fermentation chamber built yet, but still want to monitor the temp at which I am fermenting, is...

    Brewhemoth conicals?

got my tri-clover brewhemoth a few weeks ago and now going to buy all of the valves and things that I need. I do have a few questions so I hope that you guys can help me out. I think I can get almost everything from brewers hardware: 1 - is the racking port necessary? do I need a valve here...

    favorite breweries in Colorado

are you talking about a tour or just the tasting room? the best tour I have been on was at New Belgium, everywhere else is just like every other tour (Avery is by far the worst). For a tasting room, why not try one of the smaller brewers that don't distribute as much dry dock in Aurora...

anyone use a mini-fridge as the ceiling for a fermentation chamber?

I am getting a brewhemoth in a few days and I am thinking about building a fermentation chamber. I don't have a lot of room to go horizontal, but I can go vertical. I was thinking that I can take the door off a mini-fridge and lay it face down and use it as the room of my fermentation chamber...

Stout Tanks and Kettles - $400 14.5 Gal Conical

thought I would resurrect this thread instead of starting a new one. I am close to jumping on the 7.5 gallon conical and had a few questions if anyone can answer: 1 - any problems dumping the trub, does it every get stuck. Any tricks to make it go better? 2 - can you pressure the lid and put...

Traveling to Boston - beer activities/places

I thought the Sam Adams tour was absolutely terrible. We were given the tour by some girl in marketing who had no idea about brewing and the samples were a joke at the end. You get to try 3 different beers (Sam Adams + 2 others). Sam Adams brews most of their beers in Ohio or something like...

How many gallons of homebrew in 2011?

I started brewing in March for the first time ever and just brewed batch 15 on the year. So add another 75 gallons for me: = 36145

Are you offended when others pour your beer out?

+1 on the tasters. I always give everyone a taste of all the beers and they can get a full pint if they like them.

    New York City brewpubs

I think that McSorley's beer is brewed by PBR. I walked by one day and they were unloading about 60 kegs with PBR on the side.

    so many keg problems

wow this went from bad to worse. so I didn't have one keg leak, but two. I lost a full 5 gallon batch without tasting it. It leaked from the poppet as well. I'm thinking I am just going to replace all of them on my kegs, or maybe I should just quit homebrewing.

    so many keg problems

I went from star san to vodka in a spray bottle for checking connections. My new method for looking for leaks is: 1 - fill keg and pressurize 2 - spray vodka and look for bubbles 3 - put the connectors in a glass of vodka and look for bubbles (which also sanitizes them)

    so many keg problems

guys thanks for the help, just needed to be talked off the ledge last night after losing so much of my beer. So I have 6 corny kegs and two dual body regulators. I think I have had a leak from every place possible: closure leak - on two different kegs. I lost 2 tanks of gas to this, where I...

    so many keg problems

I opened my freezer today and found about 4 inches of my IPA at the bottom. I think it was leaking from the post. I am starting to think kegging is more trouble than it is worth. I can't get my beers to carbonate well, they all seem to turn out flat and in the past 6 months since I started...

    Watermelon Wheat

so this taste pretty gross. It just like a light melon flavor (not watermelon) or maybe even a cucumber taste. Did you guys keep the watermelon juice from fermenting? I am going to try and fix this with some jolly ranchers first (in a single cup) and if that is too sweet or gross, gonna try...

    Watermelon Wheat

I tried this recipe and left my watermelon at 70 degrees for two days then dropped it down to 55. I'll let it sit for another week and then keg. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.
