Questions About First BJCP Competition This Weekend

Ive been brewing on an off for a few years now and am interested in starting to enter competition to just see how some of my beer would fare. 3toes how was your first experience doing a comp? I live in GA and I've had a hard time finding information on competitions- If anyone has resources on...

    Krausen gone after syrup addition

What temp did you ferment? With a warmer fermentation-ie more rapid ferment the krausen may have just fallen unrelated to the syrup addition. Have you ever used this yeast before with similar experience? My other thought is just the density of the syrup may have essentially dragged the...

White Claw Experiment - Strange Numbers

This. Done it before myself. I thought I missed my OG by 20 pts on one of the first kits I ever brewed.. I went back and added an additional bunch DME to the primary- I swear that pale ale ended up being 9% ABV

    Belgian Pale Ale La Chouffe

Yes, I surely will. I'll make the decision on Munich vs Vienna vs a mix when I get to the LHBS. Also magnum or a similar hop if nugget isn't available. Ill try to keep it as similar to your recipe and see how it turns out. Plan to primary for 14-21 days then keg condition for another 3 or so...

    Yakima Valley Hops HopBox

Nice. I like the mix. I guess it was good timing asking about this today! You make any interesting brews with the mixes they've supplied?

    Yakima Valley Hops HopBox

Interesting. I typically buy 8 or 16 oz and vacuum seal portions anyway

    Yakima Valley Hops HopBox

Thats a great idea. For me it will probably be more cost effective to buy the hops i typically use in bulk. May try it out im not sure

    Yakima Valley Hops HopBox

Gotcha- how many 2 oz packs come in a box? Do they come in variety that match a style each month or is it all over the place?

    Yakima Valley Hops HopBox

Has anyone had any experience with Yakima Valley Hops HopBox subscription? Just curious if its worth it or what its all about. Ive bought bulk from them before and their hops seem to be great quality

    Belgian Pale Ale La Chouffe

That recipe looks great and thanks for the advice I will probably try yours out. I've been reading/listening to some information on munich vs Vienna malt. Some saying that Vienna is a mixture of Munich and pale malt-not sure how true that is. 6L is pretty light but if you want to keep it as...

    Getting back into brewing

I was going crazy doing small extract batches (and even no boil brews) for 2 years with all of my all grain equipment just collecting dust. Now in a new home I have all my equipment back and got some new equipment like grain mill and doing some upgrades as well
