    Hi. Just got my fermzilla. How are you guys purging the collection jar? Mine just came with the two black plastic caps and the pressure kit is on backorder everywhere. Was the pressure kit available previously? I was under the impression it hasn't even been released yet.

    Will a little warmer temps hurt?

    I live in Phoenix and have had great success with the water bath method. cost was $5 (got the tub with rope handles from walmart) and i easily keep my fermentation temps 60-66 degress with amazing control just by dropping in 1-2 frozen 2 liter bottles. once a day.

    I would switch it to : 3 weeks in primary 1-2 weeks in secondary (and maybe switch the biscuit malt with munich...)

    s04 too hot primary, will it clean?

    I think that is too much yeast for that size starter and would stress out the yeast. I would recommend simply re hydrating 1 pack of S-05 in water instead.

    When to peek?

    Go for it! I do it all the time. Whenever I stare at a bucket for more than 4 minutes I find my self sneaking a sample. In fact just last night I sampled a pale ale I brewed on Sunday. crack it and check for Krausen. Or you could check by shining a bright flashlight into the bucket lid.

    Is Black Barley the same as Black Patent Malt?

    So last time I was at my LHBS My stout recipe called for black barely and they gave me black patent malt. I just let it ride as I figured they knew better than me, but I thought these were different. Whats the deal?
