    Explain decoction like I'm 5

Start mash at a lower temp like 122F take a 3rd of grains from mash with little liquid, boil wet grains while stirring a lot. Move back hot grains to main mash to then increase main mash temp. Pictures of hop plants

Honestly @Fly_Guy last year was my first year growing hops. I had Sterling and Cascade. I pulled cones every few day when some of the cones were approximately an inch and a half maybe 2 inches. I then ripped them in half and then rubbed to two halves together so the lupulin could warm and I...

Show Me Your Wood Brew Sculpture/Rig

Nothing fancy but gets the job done. I use a grainfather controller on my DIY HTL and my boil kettle sits on the ground during brew day. I also use the burner on my mash then after collecting my runnings I move the burner to the boil kettle. Will eventually get a second burner and another pump.

    Sterling hops production

I pretty much kill everything I grow but in 2020 I planted a cascade rhizome and a sterling rhizome. Both took off beautifully and produced cones. I live in central California and my hops are planted on the south side of my house. It’s in the high 90s and commonly goes over 100 degrees F during...

Trying to find a ThermoWell for a Grainfather connect controller

Is 1 whole pack of Brett or mixed culture too much for 1 gallon of wort?

So I plan on having some with mixed cultures (Brett, pedio, lacto) and some with only Brett and maybe even Brett and lacto only in one. I’m thinking of maybe trying to use some oak cubes as well. I want to start these 5 different jugs and only throw dregs into maybe 2 to see what happens. You...

    Thinking about All Grain

I’ve brewed out side for 6 almost 7 years very frequently and I’ve never had a contamination in my brew. I now brew in my garage with the side door and main car door open with a fan to blow off carbon monoxide from my direct fire burner and still haven’t had issues. I spray my book kettle lid...
