    'Flash Brewing'? This looks interesting!

Oops, if you meant the I Heart IPA one, I got the Flash version of that as well. Figure that way I'll have two attempts at this whole Flash thing before I pass judgment. :)

    'Flash Brewing'? This looks interesting!

Sorry for any confusion, this is the Flash brewing version and I'm going to do it "by the book" and use the included yeast. I did the non-Flash MoreBeer Citra Session Pale Ale extract + steeping grains kit last year with US-05 and it came out really great. I only did a 1 gallon batch and it...

    'Flash Brewing'? This looks interesting!

I got the Citra Session Pale Ale and a 7 gallon Fermonster, and with the order of the Fermonster they gave me 50% off another kit so I ordered the I Heart IPA kit as well. It'll be interesting to compare results!

    Taking homebrew to go

To help dial in the parameters of what you're looking to accomplish, why is a growler not an option, and how much beer are you looking to bring? An insulated stainless steel growler is the first thing that came to my mind since it keeps the beer decently carbonated and cold for several hours...

    Feedback on "Semi-Hazy" IPA Recipe

Sorry, accidentally hit post on my phone before I finished. I really appreciate the suggestions, particularly adding Munich for a bit more maltiness and especially a hint of orange to the color; seems like that could amp things up in a nice way. Thanks again for the feedback!

    Feedback on "Semi-Hazy" IPA Recipe

Thanks for the suggestions! OG was 1.054, FG was 1.008. Coincidentally I had a West Coast Pilsner from a brewery out of Lakewood, CO last night that had Strata as the primary hop, so now I know where the spice I'm tasting is coming from. It adds an interesting note and is growing on me, I might...

    'Flash Brewing'? This looks interesting!

Yep, definitely will! Thanks for asking. I'm planning on doing a "kit to glass" video with an overview of the kit, showing the process, and a tasting. I also used this as an excuse to order a 5 gallon Oxebar keg since I currently only have 2.5 gallon Torpedo kegs. :)

    'Flash Brewing'? This looks interesting!

When I've seen people in Australia and the UK (and I think maybe the Grain to Glass guys in Canada) use these sorts of kits I've always wondered how they turn out, so curiosity got the better of me and I ordered the Citra Session Pale Ale kit. To give it the best chance of success (and because...

    Feedback on "Semi-Hazy" IPA Recipe

I'm drinking my first pint of this one now but absent sending everyone a bottle I'd love to get some feedback from more experienced brewers than myself on this recipe since it's my first shot at it, and I suppose it's good that I can share some tasting notes to see what tweaks people might have...

is there a real substitute for llalemand kolsch yeast

Excellent, thanks! I'm planning on fermenting at 60F and conditioning for four weeks so that's great to know. Apparently NovaLager can hit FG pretty quickly but I'll probably let it go for a full two weeks so as not to rush anything. I appreciate the additional info!

is there a real substitute for llalemand kolsch yeast

Thanks for sharing this -- I'm doing a Kolsch this weekend and was planning on using NovaLager so it's great to know you've had good results with it!

    Thanks, I'll check that out!

Brewfather - Hop Stand IBU Calculations

Ah HA! Thank you. Original recipe is for SIX gallons, not 5. Oversight on my part and that explains it. I mean it's still a bit higher with the right batch size, but not 50% higher. :) Thanks for pointing out the batch size!

Brewfather - Hop Stand IBU Calculations

Mine's 15.2 but based on the next post in this thread I think I see where I'm going wrong ...

Brewfather - Hop Stand IBU Calculations

I was plugging the Dark Ale recipe (https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/homebrew-recipe/the-empire-strikes-back-dark-ale/) for Big Brew Day into Brewfather, and the IBUs are way off according to Brewfather -- recipe estimates about 75, Brewfather says about 120. The hop stand step in...

How Fix LOTS of Condensation on Range Hood?

Thanks to everyone for all the great contributions to this thread! I got a lot of ideas and learned a ton from you all. I finally got around to taking a shot at addressing it by gutting my existing range hood and installing an inline fan. The completely open space inside the hood and the...

How to Cold Crash in Fermonster with Airtight Lid?

Great to know! Since my next batch will be the first time I'm using this method I'm probably overthinking it. :)

How to Cold Crash in Fermonster with Airtight Lid?

Thanks! Looks like the Cold Crash Guardian is out of stock but I'll keep my eye out.

How to Cold Crash in Fermonster with Airtight Lid?

Thanks so much to everyone for all the great info and suggestions! I learn a ton with every question I ask. :)

How to Cold Crash in Fermonster with Airtight Lid?

Thanks! I've considered the mylar balloon approach but from what I've read and watched getting the timing on that right is pretty tricky. Maybe that concern is overinflated (ha!). Or is that more of a concern if you're using a traditional airlock and stopped to begin with and have to swap it out...
