i need help with this hop combo/ schedule

i am trying to make an ipa with citra el dorado and moteuka i was thinking of something like this schedule/ ratio. .5 oz smooth bittering hop at 60 mins likely centennial but could use magnum warrior or cascade 1 oz of citra at 5 mins 1 oz of el dorado and 1 oz of moteuka in the whirlpool (...

Newbie with no idea seeks lager recipe

whats a heat tolerant bucket. if you mean its insulated that is not a great idea cause fermentation will generate heat and it could get too warm. can you post a pic you should start with an easy blonde ale recipe before you attempt lagers. do you have an area in the house thats below 70...

    bottling from keg

i am no expert and there are threads regarding bottling with little to no headspace and lots of info about capping on foam. from the little i have read i think i have often seen that purging helps. i imagine anything you due to mitigate o2 would help. i forgot to ask why are you bottling...

    bottling from keg

i used to like to think that oxygen wasnt as evil as everyone says because i always made good beer regardless of how careful i was with introducing o2 into my beer. however after changing my process and concentrating on diminishing cold side oxidation as much as possible, my beer has become...

Newbie with no idea seeks lager recipe

yes temp control is IMO most important for lagers or ales. you can make a decent lager if you can keep temps under 60 degrees with 34/70 you could even make a clean tasting pseudolager ( with a very neutral ale yeast - like so5 at 64-68 or cellar scince cali.) - those will make very clean...

Not understanding the lids and Hop Bongs on All Rounder fermenters

the cooling coil is akward IMO. if you havent bought one yet you may want to rethink it./ i have found it less hassel to just toss the whole fermenter in a ferm chamber thats tall enough to handle the zilla height with added hop bong. cooling coils are a PITA to clean after they get all...

morebeer increased their free shipping threshold

i am very close to approaching one of the local craft breweries for malt. problem is its usually hard to find an actual brewer at the breweries . usually i am only in touch with dispensers (bartenders) . at the coney island brewery, the brewers were always around and often talking but that...

    Home made gruit

hi welcome to homebrewtalk. that looks frightening and sounds like it tastes the same. why did you make that? are hops not available? if its that sour i woudl think it might be infected with lacto. or whatever sour bacteria i forget you could prolly make it palatable by adding a lot...

    Anyone lager in a keg?

technically we are all lagering in the keg. none of us pasteurize our beers so they are still alive and still cleaning up (lagering) the beer while in the kegerator

    Chat gpt

do this instead: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/grahams-english-cider.107152/ and add ribena but the yeast will likely strip out most of the ribena flavor. consider bottling with ribena instead for more flavor. i would use PET bottles though to avoid possible injury.

can beer sit on yeast/trub too long?

i would be reluctant to blame the yeast. maybe split a batch and then you can see if long term yeast contact time really makes a difference.

HBT Beer Guru Yeast Rinsing Check

i love pouring apple juice on old yeast cake to make quick cider. it always works well. in that vein i have since started using 1 pack of yeast for every two beers by just pouring new wort onto yeast cake. the second run always ferments much quciker with much less lag but ususally takes a...
