    Flip Top Glass Bottles

i dont think so. a good sealed flip top should not be able to be jarred loose. good flip tops require a fair amount of oomph to open. the ones that open very easily are usually not pressure rated. but it cant be bad to add extra security like you do. btw when sending beer i learned that...

    Removing all husks?

you could replace wiht some rice hulls to make sure the filter bed is good. i dont think rice hulls have astringency (but idk) . trumer is the best. its the only real pilsner in a bottle that i can taste the hops. i have heard jever is also a good HOPPY pilsner but havent tried it yet. i...

    Removing all husks?

palmer agrees on this. the husks are what makes malt the perfect starch to make beer with as the husk provides the filter bed to extract the wort from the mash. however : rite brew sells maltgems made by removing most of the husk. https://www.ritebrew.com/product-p/803426.htm and...

    Flip Top Glass Bottles

no they wont punch through. however not all flip tops are the same. the amazon ones especially tend to be too weak around the gasket to hold pressure. as well as the ones you find at dollar stores. many are meant for liquers or hot sauce or oils etc, not pressurized liquids. (dont ask...

Pressuremon, DIY pressure monitor for kegs

why do you need to see the pressure in the kegs. if the seals are good then theres pressure there. i never montior my kegs carb level by there pressure. i set it and forget it. pretty much. if the pressure is low the tap will pour a little slower than ususal. if high it will be a lot of foam.

i agree cigar city is good but i have a hard time finding it. looks liek i could only get fiddlehead on a long road trip also. i was tempted to try hazicus maximus today but its also 9 percent - too much brooklyn brewery pulp art was at the store but i am pretty sure i tried that one before...

six point brewery - the piff

i love ipas on tap. when you can taste the hops . that aroma and flavor and aftertaste you get when you dry hop an ale with 2 + ounces of tropical fruity citrusy juicy hops that smell as soon as you pull the tap. i have a really tough time finding that in a can. this thing tastes like hops...

six point brewery - the piff

terrible name , great beer . i finally found a decent ipa in a can that doesnt taste like wet clay, a 9 volt battery or bic pen ink. elysian stardust on the other hand was another drain pour - yuck. can anyone reccomend an ipa in a can that actually tastes like hops and not like...

Pilsner Pressure Ferment and at Lager Temps?

this thread is bound to get a multitude of replies. . with your setup the best results i have had are to use 34/70. ferment less than 62 degrees. then spund at the end. i have also had excellent results by fermetning and serving in the pressure fermenter. unfortunately for me i have not had as...

    Lager vs. Lagering

yes many have tested side by side cold conditioning vs lagering. kolsch is sort of cold conditioned ale. i have noticed that a lot of esters produced fermenting lagers on the warm side can be "conditioned out" with extra time. read this thread it has a lot of good info ...

    Brew day recovery stories

i swear the hop expression was better in this beer that had dme in it. i wonder if there are mineral salts in the dme that contributed. i think i remember seeing that dme has minerals in it thats why you dont have to worry as much about water when extract brewing. iirc thankfully it was...
