    Belgian IPA - Extract Help

I made a Citra hopped IPA a few month ago that came out really good. Now I want to try a Belgian IPA but use citra and possibly jade hops in it. Anyone have any suggestions on a recipe for this one? Thanks.

Whats that smell in the bucket after bottling?

I love the smell of my buckets. I sometimes put them over my head in the kitchen until my wife makes fun of me.

Switching From Extract to All Grain

That is one of the reasons I want to switch to all grain. Better beers and I hear you have more control over over the process. Thanks for all the suggestions, I am going to do 1 more extract and then look at making the switch.

Switching From Extract to All Grain

I have been doing 5 gallon batches on my kitchen stove. It has the 2 burners with a bridge on one side so that seems to heat it up pretty well.

Switching From Extract to All Grain

I have a 6 gal brew pot now. No wort chiller, we were using an ice bath which worked very well for us. I will check out those forums, thanks.

Switching From Extract to All Grain

I am going to learn how to brew all grain tonight, previously I was only doing extract recipes. What additional equipment would I need if I decide to switch over and start doing all grain myself? :mug:

    2nd Yeast?

I think I am going to be OK with this one. OG was 1.110 and took a reading yesterday, was at 1.020. No off taste in it. Only problem I may have is at 11.8% when I add the Amaretto it may push it close to the 15% which might kill off my Trappist yeast. Someone told me to use champagne yeast right...

    Extract Recipe for Winter/Christmas

I brewed my holiday ale last weekend. Took the Flying Dog Imperial Porter recipe, changed it up a bit. Used trappist yeast, also added some All Spice, Amaretto and a cinnamon stick. Sitting at 11.8% after a week and smells awesome.

    Add Water?

Could be a small leak from the airlock. I just bought a new lid yesterday because I didn't trust that one. It was close to 5 gal when we started. Was a lot of condensation on the lid when I pulled it off today. We'll go with what we have then. Thanks.

    Add Water?

I am currently working on a holiday ale. OG was 1.110, I took a reading after 7 days and I am at 1.020. I used Trappist yeast so it should be good up to about 15%. I checked this morning and it looks like I am down almost a galleon of water in my 5 galleon batch. My understanding is only water...

    2nd Yeast?

I didn't use a starter for this, pitched 1 vial so far. I am going to bottle, was thinking about 2 weeks in the secondary. Adding Amaretto and a cinnamon stick. Also, with the cinnamon stick is it better to break it up or just throw it in whole?

    2nd Yeast?

I brewed a holiday ale last weekend, OG came out at 1.110 I used the WL Trappist yeast, the airlock was bubbling like crazy for 3 days. I plan on adding some Amaretto to it this weekend. Should I pitch a 2nd yeast seeing that the OG was so high? I forgot to take a reading today before work...

    Dishwasher to sanitize bottles?

I have been running my bottles through the dishwasher. No soap, heated dry setting. It doesn't have a sanitize setting on it though. Seems to be working fine so far.
