    Airlock

You will be fine if liquid gets sucked back in. You will be amazed at how minimal of an impact starsan (a reasonable amount) has on a 5 gallon batch. Just make sure you have a solid barrier of liquid when fermentation slows down. It will be producing enough right now to push out any harmful air...

Which of these ruined my batch?

This thread just makes me think of the sour patch commercials where the little candies ruin everything....even your beer.

    First brew fail...no alcohol

Also, I would recommend getting a proper lid that seals tight on your bucket (or get a cheap carboy). The less oxygen that gets in, the better the beer can tase. Simple things can have a big impact on your beer (good ingredients, proper equipment, not rushing the process.)

    First brew fail...no alcohol

What yeast did you use, and did you actually see signs of active fermentation (bubbles in your airlock?). Also, how long has it been since you started to ferment it? 3 days, 3 weeks? This can impact the decision to re-pitch yeast.

    Trub with a Chronical

My grainfather clogged up when I was transferring a batch or two, forcing me to dump the entire thing in my Conical. I had a few problems with my pressurized transfer to kegs because there was so much material in suspension/around the racking port. Otherwise, I try to whirlpool and leave a...

First batch - before I start....any advice appreciated

Yeah...... I would ditch the kit and get something fresh. Liquid malt extract really only lasts 2-3 years before getting all nasty. if you are trying for a clean slate- I would start with an easy win using a fresh set of ingredients. Why chance it?

    Ss Brewing Technology

I’ve been relatively happy with my dealings. All quality product hitting my doorstep and quick response time on questions. 3 brew buckets, two Chronicals w/ Fts2, glycol chiller, CIP, fittings, and their keg washer. they replaced one of my neoprene jackets without any questions asked and did...

    Grainfather/hopspider

This is 300 micron. The basket goes in during the boil to help capture hot break and hops. You can do a full whirlpool without running the risk of clogging filters. The 2” feet allow the basket to rest on the bottom without touching the filter or heating element (feet are on far outside of basket)

    Grainfather/hopspider

Get a custom hop strainer from Aborfab. Thing works incredibly well.

    Three Notch’d Minute Man recipie?

Hey y’all, has anyone tried cloning Three Notch’d minute man? I’ve tried searching for it without success. The brewery is located in Charlottesville VA. It’s definitely citra hopped, I’m interested in the grain bill.

    SSBrewtech “Support”

I actually had a positive experience with SS recently. Purchased a Chronical through Craigslist and the guy ruined the jacket. Fortunately it was within its 1 year warranty period and I had the order number, but it didn’t do much good since I wasn’t the original buyer. they happily responded...

    My first high gravity beer

My high gravity IPA’s clean up within 2 weeks of primary (usually at 68 degrees F) and then go straight to keg for conditioning and cold-crash. Honestly though, your yeast is done when it’s done- there isn’t a magic number of days or gravity points. I don’t have the ability to put my conicals...

    My first high gravity beer

Honestly, it might not be worth the extra trouble (and possible complications with infections and oxygenation). The beer probably tastes a little bit sweeter than expected, but drink it and enjoy the cheap learning experience. Guys who have been brewing 20+ years have “off batches”.... even big...

New York SOLD - Lot of E brewing parts

What was the master plan with this automation setup, and what stopped you from getting there? I’m thinking about buying a 3 vessel and automating....just wondering if I’m going to be in the same boat

    My first high gravity beer

Let it ride. My high gravity IPA’s (just added a 1.078 to my fermenter today) take a while at those temps. No need to push it along. Worst case, you can always repitch and see where that takes you.

    Brewie

Man this got heated. I bought my Brewie and picked up the grainfather as a backup. Each are different in their own way.... it’s not a damn apples to apples comparison, so please stop trying to pit them against each other. Everyone go pour another brew and relax. We aren’t winning hearts and...
