    Current Mead Making Techniques

So I take it that if I didn't use the right ingredients at the start I'm stuck with waiting several months? After brewing my first 3 beers, I got brave and decided to do a mead. Picked up the last two 5# bottles of Sue Bee clover honey at the store, found a basic recipe on NB site and put it...

Recuperating after boilover loss of hops.

I recently made a batch of NB's Red Irish Ale extract kit. After adding the extract and bringing back up to boil, I added the Willamette hops and got an immediate boilover. Later, as I was cleaning off the burner, it occurred to me that a lot of what I was chipping off was probably the hops...

New guy from NV trying to do everything....

I haven't tried the cheese yet. The kit I received makes mozarella out of a gallon of milk; which the cheapest at Walmart is $3.29. New guy from NV trying to do everything....

I'd been thinking about getting in to home brewing for a couple of years, but probably for the wrong reasons. Being a natural born cheapskate, I figured I could make beer cheaper than I could buy it. Started reading up on it, as I do on everything, and saw that it did require some investment...

popped the top and took a reading, and it only shows about 1% ABV, 1012 SG? Smells like beer.....

Six weeks and still bubbling !

The "warmer" room was in the mid-seventies. Nothing was really that extreme (60-75), but I was trying for consistency. I'm going to pop the lid and take a reading shortly. Stay tuned......,

Six weeks and still bubbling !

OK, this is my second brew. It's a Northern Brewer Caribou Slobber. Only have a primary fermentor, so left it in for the recommended 3 weeks. Now within several hours of putting in fermentor, it was bubbling like crazy, but after only a few days it really slowed down. Thinking the room was...
