Winter Brewing using propane - warm ideas

Hi, I live in NJ and brew with propane in my garage. Week to week it can be decent for brewing (40F and up) or a little chilly (30F and lower). I don't mind when it's over 40. It's usually windy here and once it gets into the 30s can get a little uncomfortable. I don't want to stop brewing...

    Wilserbrewer small bag clearance

My kettle is 13" diameter and 10" height. The diameter doesn't include the handles. Do you think the handles would be an issue?

    Exceedingly foamy keg pours

I just turned the CO2 on until I could just start to hear it flowing in. I think it was 3-4 PSI - but my memory is horrible these days.

Lagering - Cold crashing steps and can you carbonate at the same time?

Thanks! I'm in no hurry. Yes, I have CO2 bag attached so during cold crash it will only suck back CO2. So I'll lager and carbonate after the cold crash. Thanks again!

Lagering - Cold crashing steps and can you carbonate at the same time?

I have a honey lager that is done fermenting - this is my first lager. I'm going to start cold crashing today. 1. Temp is at 68F I've slowly raised it from 50F during this past week. Can I just lower to 35F all at once or do I need to step it down 5 degrees at at time. 2. Once the cold crash...

Bru'n Water - water adjustment tab

I have told the program I'm not diluting. So do I make the adjustment with the calcium and chloride showing zero in the water adjustment tab? Or do I have to factor in my water profile does have some calcium and chloride?

Bru'n Water - water adjustment tab

My water profile entered: You see there are levels of calcium and chloride. I enter my grain bill etc. then to to the water adjustment tab Do I enter in at the bottom of the tab minerals to get the calcium and chloride levels i want to be at? I guess I'm not sure what to do on this...

When to add sparge water acid

    Thanks for the tip!

When to add sparge water acid

It's Brunwater. I understand now - 6 just for sparge and mid 5's which is color coded. So when I put in 4 for the acid addition it puts the mash PH in the right range. That's 4ml per gallon so it would be 12 since I mash with 3 gallons. so about 2.5 tsp of phosphoric acid. Thanks for the...

When to add sparge water acid

BeerFst - that's the correct recipe. I make small batches so I cut that in half and also added vienna malt. So 3 lbs Pilsner, 1 lb Vienna. If I'm doing the spreadsheet correctly my mash ph should have been under 6 (5.98). I was a little afraid to add too much phosphoric acid. I did do the...
