    Cool immersion heater from Korea

I use one of these for 10 gallon brews. Works fine, been doing it for 5 years now but I do use this in Korea. Doesn't help your wiring woes but for scale of batch, it's cool for 10 gallons

What's your brew space/hangout spot look like?

Not one to brag but here's my 'space'. A laundry closet with a robust wire rack that allows me to brew ten gallons vertically, have a beer dispenser, 4 kegs and a co2 tank. Thank you, Asia Sent from my iPod touch using Home Brew

Successes and failures with grain mills, what mill has worked best for you?

Monster Mill > Barley Crusher I have both the 2 and 3 rollers. Go for the 1/2 inch shaft. The Monster mills are serious products. The Barley Crusher lasted about 50 batches before it wouldn't grab anymore. Customer service was inept at best. I'm happy to be done with them/it.

    Easy Wheat Malting (Picture Guide)

OP - Where do you source your unmalted wheat. If it's seed, I assume in the spring? I skimmed the thread but must have missed it.

    Why Don't My Hops "Pop"

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned carbonation levels. It, along with many other things listed in this thread, can have a fairly major effect on perceived hop aroma.

    Session IPA recipe

I routinely mash at 162f on my session beers but never so high to use with a fresh packet of yeast.

    Ferm cap

Fermcap-S is a must when keg fermenting.

Corny Keg as Primary Fermentor - help me rig it

In my experience, having a keg lid with an airlock is unnecessary. I've been fermenting in kegs w/ a spunding valve for quite some time with great success. Fermcap-S, fermenting under 15~ish PSI works everytime. I fill to within a 1/2 inch of the gas diptube in 5 gallon kegs without issue...

    Your worst home brewing mishap?

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=307332&stc=1&d=1443918369 There are far too many to count so I'll just lead with my latest. I can't even blame this one on drinking while brewing, just carelessness. When I brew in Korea, I use a 3kw immersion heater. I always...

    Raw Ale / No Boil

Glad you got some use from my writeup. I'll continue to edit it as a running tally of the no boil beers I make. I've had DMS on a boiled beer before so I know what it tastes like. I think the key is committing to no boil and not breaching that SMM/DMS production threshold. It seems some...

    Raw Ale / No Boil

I think we are twins separated at birth! I'm making my 5th n boil boil today. Also making a hoppy number but with 20% wheat. Hosteepin' as well.

    Apartment Balcony

Sure. I had to consider a bunch of factors a) having to move b) easy to work with c) food grade d) UV resistant e) affordable f) could I find it in Korea. The Brute bucket satisfied all of these. 75L seems to be a perfect size. Go with perlite in the bottom of the water reservoir for...

    Apartment Balcony

Hey there, I made sub-irrigated planters from 75L Brute Buckets that grew well beyond my expectations. These are first year rhizomes planted in Mid-March, June 14th https://www.homebrewtalk.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=306113&stc=1&d=1443406674 Mid-July...

    Raw Ale / No Boil

I remember reading awhile back that utilization #s in a non-boil, hop steeped environment were a bit of a crap shoot anyways. Sometimes a fella has just got to roll the dice.

    Raw Ale / No Boil

    Raw Ale / No Boil

That's good to hear. I hadn't even attempted it because I assumed that it was a complete waste of money. So my next run will probably be a hoppy session beer w/ whirlflock and a flocculant yeast.

    Raw Ale / No Boil

So, for you, Whirfloc was effective at sub-boiling temperatures?

    Raw Ale / No Boil

So I'm kind of addicted to this process. Have already gone through the failed berliner weisse and am drinking on the hop steeped only beer. I went with 7oz in the 170f range. It's plenty bitter so I wouldn't worry about isomerization if you overcompensate with bulk:). It, like OP already...

Best way to aviod a hangover!

Day drinking has always treated me pretty well. It allows me to get in an extra meal, water and possibly rec league ice hockey. If you can somehow will yourself through an exercise session, you'll be A-Ok the next day.
