    BCS Temp Probes

Just got my BCS Temp Probes from Brewers Hardware. I had been using an older temp probe from an unknown origin for my fermentation chamber. The temp readings where not very stable. When I did the calculations for the Steinhart–Hart coefficients it turned out that the probe was PTC instead of...

    Stainless steel price

Online Metals is great for small orders or exotic material. If you are buying enough material to build a brewstand any local steel yard will have the best rates. For me its Everett Steel or Alaskan Copper and Brass.

    just purchased 20lb co2 tank-how do I?

Hard to tell from that photo. Take a picture of the threads and face of the valve where a regulator would attach. Also take a picture of the product label. Either way that tank has no valve cage and could be mighty dangerous if knocked over.

    Finally gonna keg!

I agree with the advice on buying keg lube. A small amount goes a long long way.

    Co2 pressure in tank

What regulator do you have? is it reading 20 PSI on the high pressure or low pressure gauge? If it is only showing 20 PSI on the high pressure gauge your tank is effectively empty and needs to be filled. New tanks are never shipped full of C02.

    March pump issues- help appreciated!

Try calling them and asking if they will put the washer in a standard letter envelope and mail it to you. I have had great luck arranging alternative shipping in the past.

    Keep a fridge from freezing

You may want to follow this thread. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/will-pressurized-keg-freeze-376653/ There are a lot of options that you have ranging from a simple light bulb or heat blanket to the more extreme PID controlled dual stage heat/cool systems.

    Will a pressurized keg freeze

I use a Lasko MyHeat that has been modified to run the fan constantly when turned on and the heater element is controlled via a BCS-460 using PID. In the past I used a 15 watt light bulb wired to a Love TSS2. There are also commercially available temperature controllers sold by brewing supply...

    Will a pressurized keg freeze

Welcome to HBT! Lots of great people and information here. Beer that is in a keg will freeze just the same as beer in a bottle. Many people put a small light or heater in their kegerator during the winter months.

How long are your beer lines? I have foamy beer!

Beer line length is determined by the serving temperature of your beer and the volumes of C02 needed at that temperature to keep your beer properly carbonated. Beer line commonly has a restriction of around 2.5-3 psi per foot. If your beer needs 12 psi of to maintain carbonation you would need...

    electric automation software question

The BCS-460 has 6 discrete outputs. Each output can be PID controlled. The PID settings are accessed and adjusted through the web based GUI. I love my BCS. Read the BCS site (http://www.embeddedcontrolconcepts.com/) and the wiki at http://wiki.embeddedcc.com/index.php?title=Main_Page. This...

Fermentation/lagering chamber - temp control, PID?

Another BCS-460 user here. I have it set up to power a small heater via PID control in the winter and the freezer compressor via hysteresis in the summer. The BCS has been one of the greatest additions to my brewing and fermenting setups. Checking on, and being able to control, your...

Should I dump my beer and start over... or not?

the "air" that came out was actually C02 that you drove out of suspension. I doubt you oxidized the beer at all. Let the yeast finish their job, and enjoy your Superbowl brew.

Should I dump my beer and start over... or not?

Did you shake it with the air lock on or off. If it was still on the amount of oxygen that would have gotten in while you checked your gravity will quickly be displaced by the C02 that will come out of the wort. You should be fine.

    Book recommendations

I have and can highly recommend, "How to Brew" by John Palmer, "Designing Great Beers" by Ray Daniels and "Yeast" by Chris White and Jamil Zainasheff. I have a few other books as well but these three always seem to be the ones not left on the bookshelf. While these books may be more in depth...

Most (all) Imperial Stouts can benefit from aging in the bottle. Don't give up on it now, just wait a few months and crack open another bottle.

    Saugatuck Brew-on-Premises

How many people are going to be at that wedding? You are talking about 800 pints of beer... I would suggest purchasing a few kegs of good craft beer.
