Agreed all cast iron needs is oiling every now and then. I would just clean it up, and then take a napkin with olive oil and rub down lightly every now and then. You will keep it looking good, and retain the antique value, if that matters.

It sucks , right before I got into brewing there was a 20Lb co2 tank sitting by the dumpster (new looking). Something told me to grab it, but I said why would i need it. 1 week later I was gathering equipment and getting into brewing. The beer gods were laughing that day.
