    12 Beers of Christmas 2017

Also, @jerbrew the last thing I saw was that you were working on recipe formulation. Hows it going?

Question; can Inline Auto Siphons be better than today's auto-siphons?

The picture is a link - if you click on it, it will bring you to the Amazon page where you can read about it and buy it. It is rated for potable water, so should be fine for moving cool wort or beer. I wouldn't use it for hot wort, but then again you can't move hot wort with an autosiphon...

    12 Beers of Christmas 2017

So it looks like we're moving along well...by my count, the only things we need confirmation on are: @b-boy - how are things looking for the abbey weizen? @HopHeavy - is your brother on track with the spiced dunkel weizenbock? @HawleyFarms - did you ever end up brewing back in March? Haven't...

Urgent question in the middle of a brew!!!

The only thing to consider is that if you shorten your boil, you will not boil off as much water from the wort. If I do a 90min boil, I lose anywhere from 1-2gal from boil-off. The boil-off will increase your final gravity, so if you don't boil the second half as long, you may end up with a...

    2 x 2 16 gauge - OK for 15+ gallons?

Rustoleum also makes high heat spray paint made for engines, exhaust manifolds, etc. I used it on my tractor exhaust and muffler and it's been holding up very well.

    12 Beers of Christmas 2017

Finally getting the Christmas Gruit going. I'm about 2 months behind where I'd like to have been, but life and all that. Wort in the kettle, and the spices are not in yet but smelling amazing after measuring them out. I made one change in backing off the amount of juniper in the recipe. I...

    Ideas for Christmas/Winter brews?

Brewing a Christmas-spiced gruit today for the 12 Beers of Christmas swap. Probably a little late, but hoping 3-4 months will be enough for it to mellow out somewhat. I still have some of the bourbon spiced stout I brewed last year too, looking forward to trying that after a year in bottles.

    Stuck in Homebrewing Rut

If I find myself getting bored because for whatever reason I've been brewing the same styles or recipes mutiple times, I'll start doing some research on a brewing method or beer style that I've never tried before. I was brewing a bunch of pale ales for a while and wanted something different so...

    Disappointing Homebrew Contest

I would also try to find your local BJCP chapter representative, if this event was billed as a BJCP-sanctioned event (although it's unclear whether they called this a sanctioned event vs. an informal "hey we'll have real beer judges this time!"). If the former, then they would have a problem...

    Starting a nano brewery

What is your background, career-wise? I know you mentioned HVAC, are you an independent contractor/small business owner, or do you work for a larger company? Making great beer is one thing (congrats on that by the way, that's an impressive resume you have going), but ultimately, running a...

Traveling to Kentucky - anything I should look for?

I'm not necessarily looking for breweries to stop at, but if I'm in that area of the country, beers or brands to keep an eye out for in stores that may not be available in the northeast (i.e. we don't get too much Bell's out here, and I think I might be able to pick up some of their stuff along...

Traveling to Kentucky - anything I should look for?

We're sticking mostly to back roads and taking 3 days to drive from CT to BG, KY. East through NY and PA, spending night 1 in State College, PA. From there heading southwest into WV (roughly Morgantown to Parkersburg), into OH. Night 2 in Jackson, OH, then SW to Bowling Green via Lexington.

Traveling to Kentucky - anything I should look for?

We won't be going as far north/west as Indianapolis...coming west through PA then cutting SW through Ohio and into KY. I already have a few bourbon distilleries on the list for sure.

Traveling to Kentucky - anything I should look for?

I'm driving from CT to Bowling Green, KY in a week. Is there any beers or a particular brewery in that area (or along the way) that I should keep an eye out for to try?

What to do with overly large Zucchini?

I made stuffed zucchini last night, which was delicious. Took a ~14" zucchini, cut lengthwise and scooped out the insides. Took the inside bits and chopped them up, mixed with 3/4 lb italian sausage, an egg, 1/2c parm cheese, 1/4c italian breadcrumbs and some minced garlic. Probably also...
