My efficiency also increased when I switched to a rectangle cooler with a copper manifold. It costs a little more but I extract more sugars with this set up. Worth the extra $! Cgeers

Since I went to ten gallon batches my efficiency has gone up. My last was at 86%. What kind of mashtun are you using?

I have read this so many times on this site. I went to the LHBS and picked up the wrong hops. My recipe calls for cluster and I picked up challenger. It's the only hops addition (Irish stout). Will I see a noticeable flavor difference? Any opinion would be great 10 gal dry Irish stout Marris...

I don't have another vial to use. The LHBS only had one. I guess I can hold off until I get some more yeast.

Planned on making a 10 gallon ipa tomorrow an digit to make my starter. I went to my LHBS to pick up two vial of WL California ale yeast but the only had one vial. I have already prepared the DME which was two pints of water to one cup of DME. Will one vial be ok for that size starter?

Lost, will using a bag over the manifold affect the outcome at all?

I place a straining bag over my manifold and it seems to do a great job and no stuck sparges.

If you have room I use a new 5 gallon paint bucket. Plenty of room and the bubbling sound is louder. Helps me sleep at night!
