    Rubber/vinyl taste and smell

Sounds kind of like autolysis. If that is the case there is no fixing that. However, you aren’t done with fermentation yet. I’d let it run its course and then see what you have.

    Keg size for fermenting

Thanks I believe that is likely in the cards. I planned to use them for serving beer anyway. What’s one more.

    Keg size for fermenting

This was my initial thought. Only real benefit to the 3 gallon seems to be the need for a smaller fermentation fridge.

    Keg size for fermenting

Hey all. I’d like to switch to fermenting in cornies. I like the ability to spund, transfer is simple, and cornies are cheaper than fancy stainless fermenters. I usually do 2.75 gallon batches and transfer to 2.5 gallon kegs. Would I be best served using 5 gallon kegs and not worrying about...

Something on the surface of beer

Penicillin comes from mold, and a pellicle isn’t mold. So that would seem to be out. I’ve never heard of penicillin in beer. Though it’s been shown ancient Nubians brewed a tetracycline beer. Tetracycline however is fine for penicillin sensitive folk. I say drink away.

Something on the surface of beer

I agree there is definitely some yeast, but doesn’t the first pic look like the beginning of a pellicle forming? Looks like a film on top. I’d still keg and try it, but I’d do it quick. What’s the gravity currently?

Why is my auto-siphon f***ed up?

Mine isn’t too bad. One or two easy pumps and off she goes. Maybe mine’s just easier to please.

Why is my auto-siphon f***ed up?

Yeah, I’ve had a few over the years. It just takes a small crack or nick in the plastic around the inner tube piece to pull in air constantly. Time for a new one likely.

    Only burst dry hopping?

Even if the whole brew doesn’t take on the cardboard like oxidation flavor, I would think oxygen would attack the very volatile aroma compounds quickly. This is a guess, but I like many others have completely eliminated secondaries to combat oxygen exposure.

Need cleaning tips for 50' SS IC

Yeah, mine isn’t had to spread the coils apart. If you hold one of the handles you can just shake it and they open up like @NewJersey said.

Need cleaning tips for 50' SS IC

I haven’t permanently spread my coils apart but I don’t find it hard with my IC to gently spread the two handles apart which exposes a small gap. I spray it out and then it recollapses. Quick dunk in the pBW in my kettle, another quick spray with the hose. Done.

    Only burst dry hopping?

I by no means am an experienced NEIPA brewer. I don’t like the style. However, you mention that you do your second dry hop in secondary. Does this mean you transfer to another vessel for secondary and then dry hop? If this is the case you may be looking at an oxidation issue from the transfer...

    Recipe wont fit.

Speaking to what IslandLizard is saying, what is your intended batch size (amount into the fermenter) and how much do you plan to bottle/keg? Every brew system has its obvious capacity limits and grain bill capacity.

    Kegging newb needs snaptap help.

Is there a PRV on the keg lid? My guess is to disconnect the gas, pull the prv and then take off the snaptap. Clearly beer will come out and it’s under pressure. I’d look at the faucet itself and see if the tap opens as it should when you pull the handle. Maybe it’s broken?

    Worst beer I've ever had...

100% agree. Reminded me of Liquid Smoke. Paid $15 for it and did not think twice before dumping that garbage down the sink. Might be the worst thing I’ve ever put in my mouth.

Can I get away with a single packet of 34/70 yeast?

Will it ferment the beer? Yes Will it be good? There’s a lot of factors in play there. will it hurt to pitch two packs? No To me, it’s cheap insurance on a big batch of beer. And no extra work.
