    Switching 4-way Manifold Input

I purchased a 4-way manifold that currently has the input on the right side, and I would like to switch it to the left. It looks like the barb and end-cap are able to be unscrewed, but they are on there TIGHT. I just want to make sure it is possible before I throw it in my vice and put more...

First Time Kegging - CO2 Constantly Running

It is slightly chilled and cooling in the fridge now. Thanks for the tips on burst carbonating. I did give it a few shakes (upright, rocking a little) with the gas connected and didn’t see any water backflow. Should I never shake (not roll) with the gas line connected?

First Time Kegging - CO2 Constantly Running

You sir are a legend, thanks for the help! I had replaced the o-rings with new ones to be safe... and it looks like that was the issue. The new o-rings seem a little large/less snug than the old ones. I threw the old one on the gas post and I can wiggle the disconnect without any leak. The CO2...

First Time Kegging - CO2 Constantly Running

Are you talking about the groove the o-ring sits in?

First Time Kegging - CO2 Constantly Running

I ordered a new set of o-rings and replaced them. I also rubbed some keg lube on the o-rings to no avail, but maybe I need to try more in the morning. I may have mispoke earlier, I meant maybe the posts are worn, but that seems unlikely. Is that even really a possibility?

First Time Kegging - CO2 Constantly Running

I am trying to carbonate some water and am hearing the tank continuously running. When I take the gas valve off the keg it stops, but I cannot see or hear any leaks in the keg. Is this normal since it is starting to absorb CO2 or is this a sign of a leak? EDIT: This is a used keg with the...

    Tennessee Nashville CO2 Fills

Awesome, I’ll have to check them out. I bought a filled tank at a local Airgas for 85 and they do swaps for 18 I believe. If I am out and heading towards Nashville I will check out Volunteer Welding.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks for the heads up!

Help Setting Up Kegerator - CO2 Regulators and Manifolds

Awesome, thanks for the input. Would I be able to use a brewing pump to do this as well, or is a separate pump better? I’m just thinking if I have a pump for brewing (which I want to get before long) then I might not need to get another piece of gear.

Help Setting Up Kegerator - CO2 Regulators and Manifolds

Following up on this. I am ordering the rest of the parts I need outside of the kegs and CO2 tank. My question is regarding line length. What would you recommend for gas line length? Right now I have 4ft/keg in my cart, but I am not sure if that will be too much or too little. As for the beer...

    Tennessee Nashville CO2 Fills

Does anyone have a recommendation on places to buy/fill CO2 tanks? I live near Franklin, TN and called a spot in Columbia that quoted $25 fill/$130 new for a 5# tank. That seemed steep to me, so I wanted to check if there are other recommended spots.

Help Setting Up Kegerator - CO2 Regulators and Manifolds

I just pulled the trigger on a single gauge regulator and a 4-way barbed manifold! AIH is having a small sale, so I figured I would start buying some gear for the setup now. I am tempted to get a 10lb, but my fridge has a very convenient and out of the way bracket on the back of the fridge...

Help Setting Up Kegerator - CO2 Regulators and Manifolds

What exactly do you mean by this? My CO2 tank will sit on the back of my fridge (there’s a bracket) so a tee in the back may not work great for me in terms of accessibility. Since I will have MFL threaded connections couldn’t I just shut the manifold off, unscrew one connection, and attach my...

Help Setting Up Kegerator - CO2 Regulators and Manifolds

I am all for the simple, and typically cheaper, approach. I was originally leaning towards a regulator to a 4-way manifold, but I wasn’t sure if the different carbonation levels would be a big of a deal. I think I might just do that at first and see if I want to revise it in the future. I don’t...

Help Setting Up Kegerator - CO2 Regulators and Manifolds

Hello All, I recently bought a Kegco Fridge off Craigslist and am slowly building a kegging setup. I brew 2.5 gallon batches and based on my measurements I will be able to fit three 3 gallon kegs and one 5 gallon keg in the fridge (keeping CO2 outside). The plan is to have the 5 gallon keg with...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I was thinking of doing the first batch (8.5lb) with the pipe and a 1 gallon sparge. I might just have to do the 9.75lb batch without the malt pipe and hope for the best.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Has anyone tested the actual limits of the Foundry 6.5? I am planning two brew days soon; one with 8.5lb of grain and one with 9.75lb of grain. I know the “limit” is 8lb, but I wonder if it will all fit... I was thinking I could always just remove the malt pipe, drop a bag in BIAB style, and...

Adjusting Hops When Scaling Down Recipe?

The hops I used were opened before for other brew days, but then I double bagged them and threw them back in the freezer. I typically give it about 10-14 days. Fermentation slows after 3-5 typically in a temperature-controlled fridge. I was using a 3 gallon carboy, but just upgraded to the 4...

Adjusting Hops When Scaling Down Recipe?

I currently shop with Ritebrew. I store my hops in the freezer; double-bagged to try and keep the oxygen out. At the time of brewing the amber, the older hops were less than six months old. It is hard to remember my perception of the hop flavor but I will take notes next time. Generally I...

Adjusting Hops When Scaling Down Recipe?

Ok, I just wanted to make sure something wasn't amiss with my process. I suppose when I think more about it I may have been generalizing my problem when there are actually different aspects to it. My bigger issue may be hop character and not necessarily IBU, because my Amber definitely is a bit...
