New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Wow you are dry hopping earlier every time, day 2?! lol i already thought it was early when i dry hopped at day 4 in my last batch. Thanks for the info, i will be happy to save some hops by skipping the second dry hop if you report no loss on aroma, i have a batch from yesterday fermenting...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

You dont need a beer gun, i bottle from the keg with zero oxidation, use that "we dont need no beer gun" thread to learn how, pretty easy. Yeah bottling IPAs is a crime in my opinion, unless carbonated in a keg Here is the link, found it. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=24678

Fermenter cap broken in day 10

It was open for maybe 48h, not sure can be 24h... Reading the thread people say this style is the most sensitive to oxygen, so much you should not bottle at all, just keg. That is what i read anyways :) The recipe calls for a second dry hop, since the first one was at day 4 of...

Problems with bottled batches (Kegged ones are fine)

Thanks for the help guys, i have now transferred 2 kegs to bottles, to be honest after doing that i cannot imagine bottle carbonating ever again, this solves my bottle conditioning problem AND gives me fresh beer in 3 weeks from pot to glass, cheers! :mug:

Problems with bottled batches (Kegged ones are fine)

I will try and taste the boiled sugar, that will be interesting! Its unlikely i get the off flavor from the pot, it is a 3 month old original Tfal pot. I am not sure how to describe the off flavor, its subtle but very weird, maybe a little sweet? The headspace in the bottles is determined but...

Problems with bottled batches (Kegged ones are fine)

Well the beer does not taste old, it really have a specific taste to it. But i like the idea of transferring from the keg a lot! I will follow that tutorial for sure and see what happens. :mug:

Problems with bottled batches (Kegged ones are fine)

Hahahaha, i have never tried bottling from the keg since i dont have the gun, wont that cause too much oxidation? I thought i needed to boil the sugar for 10 min at least, maybe its worth the try boiling for less... I always sanitize the caps, and i have tried spring water and distilled water...

    Is my Alkalinity too low?

Wait, so you are saying my alkalinity should be zero since i use 100% destilled? And this may be causing me to add more acids than i need so my ph may be too low? Oh crap...

    Is my Alkalinity too low?

Alright, thanks for the replies guys. I am focusing in controlling the Mash Ph and the Chloride to Sulfate ratio and all, that i think i understand pretty well, my concern was that comparing my Alkalinity with other profiles it was always lower, probably because i dont use any tap water in my...

    Is my Alkalinity too low?

Hi guys, I have been trying to better understand my water, which i build from 100% distilled and there is one aspect i am worried about, the buffer. If you look at the screenshot the alkalinity is 13, and reading thru the example profiles i see this is very low comparing to others. I...

Testing Brun'water mash Ph with a good 0.01 meter

Hey guys, i am considering investing about $150 in a good Ph meter and i wanted to check how many of you have compared brun'water results with a good 0.01 resolution Ph meter. I am trying to figure out if the investment is worth it at all. If you enter the grain bill 100% correct in...
