    All grain OG

After 6 successful extract batches I brewed my first all grain batch. I was fired up when I took a hydrometer and hit my OG. Now that I think about it there was a bunch of trub/crap in my tube when I took my reading. Now I'm thinking my OG and efficiency was off due to the gunk floating. Is...

    All Grain Equipmemt

Fantastic! I was always under the assumption that the sparge water needed to be held at a higher temperature. Thanks

    All Grain Equipmemt

Folks, I'm about to delve into all grain and had some gear questions. I'm gonna build a mash latter and already have a good 10 gallon kettle. Questions are the following 1. What size kettle do I need to heat enough sparge water. Keep in mind I only plan on 5 gallon batches. 1. How do I...

    Thundercookie Gingerbread Stout

Did you taste during bottling? The spice potion was very overwhelming. Hope it mellows with age. It was still pretty good though.

    Thundercookie Gingerbread Stout

I couldn't wait. Took my first gravity reading 9 days into fermentation. The beer was more brown than black but it was delicious! Taking my next gravity reading Sunday.

    Thundercookie Gingerbread Stout

Nice! After an extremely vigorous 48 hours of fermentation the Krausen is gone and no bubbling. Did you have the same experience?

    Thundercookie Gingerbread Stout

Krausen was almost at the top of the fermenter this morning

    Thundercookie Gingerbread Stout

Just brewed this today 8 hours later fermentation is extremely active. Probably the best start I've ever had. Look at that Krausen!

    Thundercookie Gingerbread Stout

I have this kit on the way. So fired up. Did you use all of the priming sugar? 5 oz seems like a lot for a stout IMO. Sounds like all is going well

Big Mouth Bubbler - Siphonless - Yes or No

I have it and love it. Only 2 brews so far but so far so good. My only complaint is when filling my hydrometer tube you have to take off the air lock or my starsan gets sucked in.

    Starsan screw up

You're probably fine. I've made almost every mistake possible and always made pretty good beer.

    Full boil- for stouts

On this board I hear a lot about the benefits of a full boil. Specially for the purpose of hop utilization. If brewing a stout or any hop light beer is there any advantage to a full boil? The reason I ask it it's much easier and quicker to bring wort to pitch temperature when adding to chilled...
