    There here!

Yeah Heavywalker, this spring has been horrible! I'm going to be using frozen blackberries this time around for my blackberry wheat this weekend. Someday, I'll get those fresh berries.
  2. BainbridgeBrewer

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing up a Blackberry Wheat to hopefully be served at my wedding in about 3 weeks. Gonna be pushing the time frame, but I think I can swing it.

Looking to go all grain, but what equipment?

There are a lot of choices for you to make. I converted a cooler I had in my garage to use as a mash tun by taking out the drain plug and putting in a ball valve. There are many ways to convert these, just search cooler conversion in the threads, or just by one thats already converted from you...

    What book is this?

Yep that would be Designing Great Beers. Lots of helpful information.

Krausen - no blowoff in a large bucket

I use 7.5 gallon brew craft buckets as primaries. I've had some krausens fall back into the beer, and some stay floating on top. I have never made a bad tasting beer that I would attribute to the krausen. Just my experience.

    Moving the Carboy during fermentation.

I've moved carboys during primary and not had any issues. What yeast did you use? At 70 - 72 it might have been a quick ferment. Also, while moving the carboy you may have unseated the airlock seal. It happens quite often where people don't see any airlock activity. I'd say let it ride, check it...

How to get dried wort off the ceiling???

Have you tried just 409 or some other spray cleaner? spray it on there really good, and then dab or wipe it off with a sponge / rag / towel. Also could try using some oxy clean and water. It cleans most everything else I brew, so I guess why not give that a shot. All your really looking at is...

    What happens if...

Search the fields in this forum for late extract additions. There are a ton of threads already about that subject. I use to do it all the time when I used extract.

Anyone else wake up in the middle of the night and think about brewing?

I've also had restless nights where I would wake up almost every hour waiting to hear the blow off tube start to bubble. One particular time I had a ton of krausen up in the dip tube and I woke up all the time worried about a few hop leafs I knew slipped through my defenses getting stuck in the...

Anyone else wake up in the middle of the night and think about brewing?

I read brewing books and magazines right before bed so I've definitely had brewing dreams and then woken up to think about it during the night. I guess I always thought that was normal.:mug:

    dry hop without bag ?

Yep, I dry hop with pellets sometimes. I've never used a hop bag for it. Pellets will break apart and should end up on the bottom by the time you rack to your bottling bucket or keg. Just siphon carefully and you should not have any issues.

    The [Horribly Unpopular] Soccer Thread

I'd think Vegas would be an interesting choice for an expansion team. There are plenty of teams fairly close to them to stir up some rivalry. A team in Atlanta would probably benefit from another expansion team forming out of the south at the same time. That way they aren't all alone down there...

How do you clean up keg shells

Yeah, that thread made me want to gloss up my cornies.

    The [Horribly Unpopular] Soccer Thread

Just found this thread. Its sweet to combine two things I love, brewing beer and watching soccer. Sometimes at the same time! Subscribed. Also, SOUNDERS TILL I DIE! I'll be screaming my face off at home tonight watching the Seattle vs. Dallas game.

    What's a good price for a CO2 tank?

I paid $75 for mine from my LHBS. Its a 5 lbs tank.

    Dry hopping question....any input appreciated.

You'll be fine, you can go up to about 14 days once you dry hop. I've read that anything over that may impart some grassy / vegetative flavors. My hoppy IPA's usually sit with the dry hops in for 10 - 14 days before I bottled.

Sounds like you are on your way to a nice ferment. Welcome to HBT.

    Dry hopping

Most of the hops should settle out like everyone has said. If you happen to get some hop bits into the bottling bucket, just let it settle for 15 minutes or so in the bottling bucket before you start to bottle. Most of the time the stuff that gets as far as the bottling bucket will stay below...
