    Mid First Brew -- Question!

Same as above. mine always kinda sits until it dries.

    California Inland Empire Home brewers!

I may have to try and get to this one. I have yet to find the time/work up the courage to attend a meeting for either club.

Quick question - Taking wort for a car ride?

The keg is a great idea. Just like everyone else said, as long as everything is sanitized, the beer will be fine. I would be more worried about spilling it in the car haha. That's not too hard to figure out though.

    Sanitizing

I do the same for my beer bottles. I soak them in star san and then drain them and put them onto a sanitized bottling tree. Before I fill, I dunk the neck into the star san again. That probably doesn't do anything, but it makes me feel good. I also keep a spray bottle handy. Keep in mind, I...

    Carboy Cap Question

I would agree with the above comment. That looks like one of those water cooler bottles. While your beer will happily ferment in there, I have heard they are extremely difficult to clean and many people will use them only once. Additionally, the fermenters mentioned about were specifically...

    Sanitizing

Anything that I need sanitized stays in my bucket/tub of sanitizer until I use it. I have never found a need to let it all sit out after being sanitized. I agree about the comment about no wipes. The chemicals used on those wipes have the potential to linger on your equipment. I would be more...

    Extract brewing is FAKE brewing

I came here for incendiary comments/flame war, as I am bored at work, and have been thoroughly disappointed. Why must you all be so civil. There is no entertainment in that.

    3rd year plant help

Seems like the consensus it to leave her alone. I did cut off a few unhealthy bines of my 3rd Willamette. After the move, I was able to tend to it more often and it has shot up a few new bines. I only cut down the ones that looked very unhealthy or that had those ends where it looks like nothing...

    3rd year plant help

I am in Southern California. Right now I am hand watering it but I will be setting up an irrigation system to water it everyday. It gets plenty of sun and already has 8 or so new bines sprouting. This makes me think that it isn't too unhappy in its new home. The previous owner also had a trellis...

    3rd year plant help

I have a 3 year old cascade plant that has gone through a few environmental changes in the past few years. I took it from a cooler climate to a much hotter one and removed it from its pot a few weeks ago. When I planted it in the ground, I cut down all of its bines to make it easier. Thankfully...

Will trub in the secondary affect dry hopping

I dry hopped in primary last night. Took a reading and saw it was about 1.005 and decided that was low enough to assume fermentation was over. I never transfer to a secondary for almost any reason. you should be fine.

    New House, New Brew Space

Can't you buy burners that are equipped for natural gas? If so, that will be a serious consideration. My only question would be how to continue to brew right outside of the garage. I hate the sound/buzzing of hoods. I'm not sure I could take it.

    New House, New Brew Space

I just realized I never responded with what I ended up doing for brew day #1 at the new place. I used the garage. Like everyone said above, the proximity to the sink and storage was just too good to pass up. I did set up my burner outside of the garage and some chairs in the garage in the shade...

    New House, New Brew Space

My soon to be fiancé are moving into a new house soon. While it is extremely exciting, my current brewing situation will be upturned again and I will need to figure out the best way to adjust to my new house. Luckily, this should be a much more permanent space. We are purchasing this house...

foam, foam foam. I know draft line length, but wait there's more...

Very fair. I just always had problems with the balancing even after using a few calculators and whatnot to try and find the correct length and such. Luckily, I have had very few issues so far.

    Homebrew League

That was my conclusion as well. I emailed their published email last night to ask about it. They are trying to incentivize people/clubs with bigger prizes. It looks like if your club hosts a competition, it can earn some money. I am thinking that the money has to come from somewhere, so that is...

    Homebrew League

I was just wandering around the forum when I saw this ad at the top of the page. Has anyone heard of this site before? It seems like a pretty cool/fun idea. Has anyone ever sent a beer into one of these challenges before? Do you guys think it would be fun? I have always kinda wondered about...

    Question on starter timing please

If it isn't on a stir plate, you can totally see a krausen form and see bubbles like a normal fermentation. If you pull it off of the stir plate early, I can normally see bubbles rise through it.
