    Another am I stuck?

Well I took a gravity sample at 6PM today which is exactly 4 days after pitch. The targets were 1.048 OG and 1.013 FG. My OG was 1.060 and at 4 days I am at 1.029. The good sign is that my racking valve near the top of the cone had about 1/2 oz of clean white yeast come out before I got beer and...

    Another am I stuck?

I pitched a starter of 1 smack pak Wyeast 1084 Irish 7/24 8:30 PM with 1.75 oz DME & 600 ML. Added 3.5 oz DME and 1200 ml on 7/25 at 1:00PM. 7/26 5:00 PM pitched 2,000 ML starter with 1/4" yeast in flask to 11.0 gallons 70 deg 1.060 OG Irish Stout in a chamber at 68-65 degree setting. I was busy...

American IPA My 2-time gold winning American IPA

I made my 1st batch of this 10 gallon pitched on 5/23/15 and kegged on 6/13/15. OG came in high at 1.070 and so did FG at about 1.018. I am no beer judge but after a week in the keg it seemed a little sweet and hoppy at the same time. I was a little disapointed but in the last week after 5 weeks...

    Johnson temp Controller Question

I believe on that controller it will come on at set point 67 and turn off at set point 67 - deviation 3. So on at 67 off at 64. Watch the first cycle to confirm. Your yeast package should have the fermentation temp indicated.

    Do I need a pump to all-grain?

Gravity and cooler with minor mods and your there. Easy to use a couple small kettles to catch the Mash/Sparge runnings and dump back to a high kettle then gravity to the fermentor. There is no sales tax on gravity yet so hurry

Wort chiller for 15 gal. kettle

One more thing ....... keep checking prices. The thin wall is better for heat conversion and cheaper. Look at "refrigeration tube". I bought mine thru a commercial account for $42.00 6 months ago but you should do just as good at plumbing supply house or Home store or on line. quick sample...

Wort chiller for 15 gal. kettle

Here is a good video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S94Lhp-bv8M The only thing I did different is to use a corny keg for a form and the 1st thing was to use the spring to bend 2' from the end 90 deg perpandicular to the roll before it has a chance to deform from rolling around the keg (the 2...

Wort chiller for 15 gal. kettle

I recently purchased a 50 foot roll of 1/2" soft copper refrigeration tube for about $40.00. It took a couple hours to make (see youtube videos). You need to purchase a " 1/2" copper spring" to bend the ends down (I think about $5.00) but can just direct clamp your hoses if you don't want to...

    keezer liquid line length

Time to convert from my Garden Taps to real Faucets mounted on a keezer collar. I searched and could not find old posts I have seen recommending longer liquid lines to reduce foaming at higher pressure. I will have 4 CO2 Taps and 2 with 25% CO2/75% Nitrogen. Appreciate any and all advice on...

    Help with stc-1000 programming?

Thanks for that, very easy to follow. My only question: I have (2) temp probes, I think one is for the Fermenter and one is for the Chamber. How do I select which one to monitor?

Question Of Collecting Yeast From SS Brewtech Chronical

I connect about 6" of clear tube to the 1.5" dump with hose barb. I always install the ball valve handle up so it opens bottom first on the tank side. The morning after pitching I dump trub and sanitize. When fermentation stops or gets real slow (say 7 days) I drain slowly into a tub until I see...
