    What did you just say??!!

In this one, they could have been using "The Lager" as a proper noun, not an adjective. There are whole swaths of Pennsylvania where Yuengleng is just called "Lager." In the first quote, cut the guy some slack. It *is* triple-hopped, it takes a special kind of beer drinker to be able to...

    Kegging a Pale Ale

Check out this Kegging Guide From morebeer http://morebeer.com/themes/morewinepro//kegging.pdf The chart on the last page is invaluable. Determine what your desired carbonation level is, the temperature of your kegerator, and that will let you know the PSI that you need to set it at. For...

Is Guinness the most overrated beer...ever?

I have no problems with Guinness. It's fine for what it is, it's not really for me, but I'm not really a stout guy in general. I don't begrudge anyone for drinking it because I don't begrudge anyone for drinking anything, people should drink what makes them happy whether that's Hurricane Malt...

Is Guinness the most overrated beer...ever?

Does this statement apply to any school these days? You can't even say this about *Navy* anymore...:ban: I think Guiness is fine, and the notion of "overrated" is completely subjective and silly. It's not really for me, but a lot of people really like it. For something to be that massively...

How long should Dry Hop last and why?

I am interested in this process as well. I would assume you would have to use a hop sack to avoid clogging the tube?

    Beer Style question

I would suggest going to the BJCP website and reading the descriptions. Without knowing the Gravities, what you have described to me sounds like a cream ale.

Are you a perfector or an explorer?

I don't brew enough unfortunately to be afforded the luxury of perfecting things yet, I have spent almost the last year brewing my way through "Brewing Classic Styles" and I'm not even 1/4 of the way through (Although I lack equipment for lagering right now, and 90 minute boils for pilsner based...

    Sparging methods

I acquired two 10gal igloo coolers. I use one as my MLT and the other as my HLT. I tried a few with batch at first and have found fly to be much easier for me. I don't have a brew stand or anything, just a chair on a table and the floor - three levels :)

Horrible flow on new false bottom

Is this a 10 Gal cooler? You might want to try testing it with more than 2 gal of water. Might not be enough force of gravity to start the flow. I have a very similar set-up to yours (mine is a metal elbow) and don't usually have any problems with drainage. I did in my last batch, but that's...

Am I weird that I find Fly Sparging so much easier than Batch?

I personally don't care about the efficiency difference, that's why I think I'm weird, I just do it because it's easier for me. I also don't watch it for an hour and don't concern myself with the pH or anything like that. Once I have my flow rate right, I just go do other things, it's arguably...

Am I weird that I find Fly Sparging so much easier than Batch?

This is pretty much what I do. Vorlauf, start my runnings, start the sparge (I do it through a hose with a little plastic sprayer thingie. I sprinkle it onto a plastic container lid, and that's pretty much it. I let it run for an hour, hit my volumes and go. I'll collect a sample for the...

Am I weird that I find Fly Sparging so much easier than Batch?

I'm only about 5 or so batches into my new foray into traditional all-grain brewing, but something dawned on my in my last batch - I love fly sparging so much more than batch. Is it just me? Maybe I'm lucky, weird, or doing something wrong (It's likely all three). But batch sparging was just...

    I think it's official, I've become a beer snob.

You're not a beer snob, you're a beer enthusiast. A Beer Enthusiast cares about what they drink, a Beer Snob (I like to call them Beer Jerks) care about what other people drink. If you don't like Miller Lite anymore, you don't like Miller Lite anymore, IIWII. I don't like Miller Lite anymore. I...

    Beer Tasting

I can't speak for the original poster, but I think I know what he was getting at...SNPA serves as an "introductory" craft beer for a lot of people.

    Cold crash a Witbier?

They might, but I also thought heavily hopped, unfiltered beers can suffer from haze as well due to the polyphenols in suspension. Mind you, I could be completely making this up, but I always heard it called "hop haze."

    Founders Dirty Bastard Banned!

Flying Dog has encountered problems with their Raging Bitch Belgian IPA, also with printing their "good beer, no ****" motto on 6-packs. IIRC, pretty much every time they challenge this in court, they win on 1st Amendment protections.

    Big Beer is Bad!

Beyond ceasing to serve a patron who is intoxicated, I don't really favor any system that takes the responsibility away from the drinker. It should be each persons own responsibility to pace themselves and know their own limits.

This Home brewer was elected to start an informal microbrewery...HELP!!

I have nothing of value for your question personally... But the Brew Strong podcast had a whole series on Jamil's journey from homebrewer to pro brewer. I haven't listened to it, but it could be of some help for you.

Connections for a Shirron Plate Chiller?

My In-Laws got me a Plate chiller for my birthday (tangent: one of my favorite things about this hobby is that I can share it with others, who in turn are eager/willing to buy me equipment and such as presents because they know it will benefit them in the long run). the problem I am running...
