    Mr. Malty help

My power is out and I can't get flash on my iPhone to get access to Mr. Malty. Can someone hop on there and tell me what starter size I need for a 1.052 ale?

    Long Distance beer Line run

I wouldn't worry about it. I use 10-12' of 3/16" and keep my beer at normal pressures and still get a great pour.

    Starting over

I got some good work time on the keezer the last two days. Just a couple of small things left and it will be 100% done. I rusted a few pieces tin and tacked them on the root beer tap handle with a few finishing nails. I'd like to find an old school looking root beer sign to put on it, but...

Who has made their oktoberfest yet?

I did mine 2 weeks ago, I really wanted to do it in March but didn't make it. It's still slowly bubbling at 50 degrees. I sampled some when it was 50% done and didn't taste any Diacetyl so I'm not doing to do a rest.

Thanks. The top of the coffin is 15 inches tall total, it sits 14.5" above the tile. That puts the bottom of my taps at 10". I originally planned for the taps to be at 11" but logistically 10 worked out better, after pouring a few beers I would have preferred 11 though.

Nice pics of me working @ my wedding

Just read through the whole blog, awesome job. Man, what a logistical nightmare. Just planning our wedding was crazy, I can't imagine getting out that much beer and having everything work out. Congrats, glad everything went as planned!

The outside of the keezer is 99% finished. I got the base board trim cut and stained. I was going to screw it in place but it looks just fine just resting on the floor, and I can easily take it off when I need to move the keezer. I also put in a recess for the drip tray so it's level and...

    Samuel Smiths Organic Strawberry Ale

Not a problem if you don't keg. If you are able to crash cool it, I would do that after it's done fermenting. If not it's not a big deal. Then put gelatin the primary, wait a few days and rack to a secondary and add the strawberries. You might get a little secondary fermentation, but most of...

    Samuel Smiths Organic Strawberry Ale

I make a strawberry blonde that is awesome. I think it's good because of the way I treat my strawberries. After the beer is done fermenting I crash cool it and then put gelatin in it, trying to get all the yeast out that I can, I don't filter my beer. I want all the yeast gone so it doesn't...

Anybody seen this in the Indianapolis area? I'm here for the day and would love to pick this up.

Both my lagers are going great, the maibock is bubbling like an ale and the oktoberfest is slowly chugging along. I'm surprised they took off so quickly, I think it was about 12 hours after pitching that the airlocks started bubbling. I was able to get a few odds and ends done on the keezer...

    lager aeration

I brewed my first 2 lagers on Monday. I cooled overnight, racked off the trub and pitched my starters Tuesday around noon. I aerated, by shaking the bucket, for about 5 min. each. I went back to aerate again about 6pm because I wanted to make sure there was plenty of oxygen in the beer. Both...

    Rocker Switch Wiring

    nevermind, got it figured out.

    Rocker Switch Wiring

Will this diagram work? It's in DC but I think I could wire it up the same. Put the hot from the wall into pole 2, both negatives into pole 3 and the hot to the lights into pole 1. The switch is 16A 125VAC, do I need a fuse?

    Rocker Switch Wiring

I have this rocker switch and I wanted to use it to switch on a string of rope lights on my keezer. I've searched and can't figure out exactly how to wire it. It's got 3 terminals labeled 1, 2, and 3, the 3 also has a plus and minus on it. Any help would be appreciated.

    Starting over

Big brew day today. It was my first time doing a double brew, it was exhausting but fun. I brewed an oktoberfest and a maibock, it was also my first time brewing a lager. The maibock OG was 1.070, and I just barely had enough room in my mash tun. I cooled the wort to 70 pretty...

    Starting over

I spent the evening switching between shaking my starters and working on the insulation on the coffin. The german bock yeast smells great, I'm ready to get it fermenting. I used rigid insulation for the coffin. I glued the top piece, but was able to cut it tight enough so the rest of the...
