    Don't Do That.

Measure out .25 oz of hops and added it to the boil. Measured out the second .25 oz and added it to the boil. Realized that you've used the entire 1 oz of hops instead of the .5 oz that you should have. Checked the scale and it was set for kg rather than oz. Found out that the scale resets to kg...

    Equipment for a beginner

It looks like a good kit and you have a good plan. I would just skip using the glass carboy. After seeing this thread: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/broken-glass-carboy-horror-stories-compendium.376523/ I never used mine again. Welcome to the hobby.

    issue with inkbird 308

The 308 will control cooling and heating, no steps. Not sure if that is something that you need.

What superstitions have snuck their way into your brewday?

Another one that I missed. Aegir was displeased with me.

What superstitions have snuck their way into your brewday?

I should have done this last weekend. Brew day did not go well.

    issue with inkbird 308

If it does reset, change it to Fahrenheit and then save it. I was adjusting mine this past weekend and it kept reverting back to factory because I didn't save it as I went. Stopping to read the instructions while programming it is not a good idea. :(

    issue with inkbird 308

First thing i would do (and you probably have done it already), is unplug it and let it sit for 5 minutes. Plug it back in and see if it resets.

Looking for recommendations for a heating mat/wrap for a Spike CF5

So I decided to give this a try. For $10 it's worth a shot. I think that I can run it down the side of the fermenter and then wrap it around the cone. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078J21GLF/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

Is this cooler too big for 5 gallon batches?

It sounds pretty big for 5 gallon batches. I bought a 52 quart and I think it's more that enough. Here's a link to read if you haven't read it already: https://www.brewhardware.com/category_s/1919.htm Also...

    Finally getting some growth

They are finally starting to grow. This the first year growing. It was a long and cold winter here in New Hampshire. I had to keep them in the fridge for quite awhile. Got them in the ground about two weeks ago.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing a NB Honey Weizen right now. Remember a watched pot never boils and a un-watched pot always boils over.

    Cooling

I would run straight tap water through the chiller until you're around pitching temps. If you have warmish ground water, switch to the ice bath once the tap water isn't cooling anymore.

Can anyone with a Spike 5gal Unitank share the dimensions?

UPDATE: So I took the bottom crisper shelf and drawers out and found that if I turned the CF5 so that there were two legs in the back, I could close the fridge door. The bottom of the door did bump the CF5 a bit. I cut off the bottom lip o the door and it closes fine. I'm back in business. :mug:
