    Can't contain my excitement!!!

For sure. I don't have a pulley system, but I'm just going to use a huge colander to drain the grains. I'm only going to be doing 3 gallon batches so hopefully I'm still young and spry enough to lift those grains. I'm eager to see how efficient my first batch will be. I don't have a mill so...

    Can't contain my excitement!!!

Thanks. I have 6 batches of extract under my belt. Just wanted to make the jump. It didn't seem that daunting to be honest. If I screw up. I'll give it another go.

    BIAB Converstion question

Ok. Great. That's what I was thinking, but just wanted to double check. Thanks for the response.

    BIAB Converstion question

Hey guys/gals, Hope all is well. So, I'm about to move to BIAB from Extract. This question may have been asked before or be in another thread so forgive me. If you could point me to the thread that would be great. My question is.... If I want to move from 5 gallon total finished volume...

    Initial boil question

Ooh. Now that sounds like a good idea. I may have to try that.

    Initial boil question

So, various extract kits start with varying amounts of water to steep the grains. I've seen anything from 2 to 4 gallons to have in your kettle at the beginning of the brewing process. Why would this be? Is there anything wrong by starting with, say 3 gallons when it calls for 2 and just...

    Quick question about primary fermentation

Appreciate that. I'm very eager to taste mine that's for sure. ;)

    Quick question about primary fermentation

The more I think about it the more I think I'll give it a shot and move to the secondary next weekend.

    Quick question about primary fermentation

Yeah, I'm sure I'll have to do it eventually. I'll just have to be extra careful. Like you said however, a person needs to be extra careful anyway.

    Quick question about primary fermentation

Yeah, I've already been considering some sort of temperature control. I have an old fridge coming to me that I can store in my garage. A solid Czech style Pilsner is one of the brews I'd like to cook up one of these days and a fridge or some sort of temp. control would be a must for sure. And...

    Quick question about primary fermentation

It is a Northern Brewer Fresh "Squished" IPA. Around 6-7% ABV. This does require a dry hopped addition at 5-7 days before bottling. It's 1 oz. of Citra and 1 oz. of Mosaic.

    Quick question about primary fermentation

Haha. Yep, hooked already. I'll probably buy another primary fermenter in a few weeks or so. I'll just bide my time. Cheers. Yes, good point.

    Quick question about primary fermentation

Man, I'm so confused now!!! 😅 I guess there is, obviously, a great deal of evidence to skip the secondary fermentation step simply because of the number of people that don't do it. However, a number of folks DO do it. I also agree that some of those that are more experienced may be able to...

    Quick question about primary fermentation

Appreciate the feedback @NeoBrew I agree that I could do more damage than good. I'm plenty patient, I have no problem waiting. Just thought if I could.... I would. Not a problem.

    Quick question about primary fermentation

Hey guys, Brand new brewer here. Ok, so I brewed my first batch this past weekend. An extract IPA. 5 gallons. Now, the recipe calls for 2 weeks in the primary, 2 weeks in the secondary, and then 2 weeks in the bottle. My question is, can I move it to my secondary after one week if the...
