Fermentation for 3 weeks (ale)? 1st time this long. Under pressure. Questions

Yeah, I ordered the kegland one but I dropped it pretty hard on accident before ever using it. I must have busted something. I can't set a threshold. Tried it like 20 times then just adjusted to my own ways. It's either on or off basically

Fermentation for 3 weeks (ale)? 1st time this long. Under pressure. Questions

Kinda my thoughts on why bother checking. But i'm also lazy. It's all new and bizarre to me. Never had this happen

Fermentation for 3 weeks (ale)? 1st time this long. Under pressure. Questions

Yes. I believe my spunding valve is defective. I could never seem to get it to work properly so I just keep an eye on it while completely closed off. The gauge matches up with my keg regulator. I should order a new one no doubt. And I don't know about fermentation. I was just asking "If" it is...

Fermentation for 3 weeks (ale)? 1st time this long. Under pressure. Questions

Yeah, sorry. I have been relieving the pressure. At one point it almost got to 35psi. I don't want it to explode. Normally (in the past) the pressure only builds up to 10-15 then no more. Then i let it sit a few days before cold crashing -- this time not the case -- it's been 3 weeks. If...

Fermentation for 3 weeks (ale)? 1st time this long. Under pressure. Questions

This is odd for me. I use a Firmzilla55L 11 gal batches. Probably 40 batches in this same fermenter. Mostly IPA with same gravity numbers. Most beers finish by 7-12 days. Once visual fermentation seems to look dying down I add a spunding valve and add natural pressure (for cold crashing...

^ i guess I'll have to look into glucoamylase. Never heard of it.

Temp fluctuations during mash? 150 to 163

So one of the guys i brew with mashed in and the target was 150f. He hit that # after mashing in (took about 5 mins). But he forgot to turn off the burners on my Brewzilla while recirculating wort. Maybe 10 mins later i noticed and it got to 162 (using thermo pen). Normally wouldn't care much...

    Fermzilla lids threads screwed up

I'm on my 3rd lid in just over a year. Def a flaw but I live with it. Try not to over tighten and I started using a rubber gasket that fits in a standard garden hoes. They come in 20 packs pretty cheap at Home Depot/Amazon

    Kviek Questions

Do a "starsan purge" prior to filling keg. Buy one (or a few) mesh container for the keg/dry hops. Quickly add it to the keg prior to filling. You can try purging again if you want (after adding hops). I use 5 oz in these. Have an IPA at 7 weeks and still burst with aroma/flavor. EDIT: Just...

Hop stand only vs. dry hop only

Pretty sure most of the ipa kits i started with (2011) never had a hop stand and some never had a dry hop step. Either way the beers usually ended up terrible lol.

    Dry hopping temp

He also suggests dry/keg hopping cold at around 40f could be great too (maybe even ideal). With extraction in as little as 3 days. Do this while carbonating. I throw my hops into those SS mesh containers (in the keg). Good for about 6oz per keg with extra room for when the hops expand. Amazing...

Pseudo Pilsner with American hops and ale yeast?

    Fermenting Scenting!

Yep. Some of the best hop aromas you will ever smell come out of that airlock.

Oxygen stone blew off into conical. Sitting at the bottom

As i was aerating my 12 gal batch the stone blew off. Will it rust? I don't see a way of getting it out of the bottom of conical.

    Homebrew competitions question.

Im in Florida. Over the past year, it seems the only events i can find you need to ship/drop off your beer 4+ weeks prior to the actual event. Is this normal? Maybe this is all covid related? I remember hearing how you could drop off the day of the event. Am i wrong thinking that styles like...

Munich Helles w Lutra Kveik... 72f

Yes! There were notes of grape definitely. But pretty clean. I was thinking it was a little young and that would go away. We shall see.

Munich Helles w Lutra Kveik... 72f

Wow this thread blew up. Sorry if i offended some of you (not really lol). I wasn't calling this beer a lager. I said "lager it" as in age it cold for a while.... I always thought to lager meant to age cold for a while. Is it not possible to lager an ale? I'm still learning, forgive me. :(...
