HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

He's kidding. Do NOT do this. You need to set up an account with a static-ip host like http://duckdns.org and set up password protection on your pi using htaccess. There is a detailed how-to somewhere in this thread. Good luck.

Wiring 240v heater element to 120v power for Dummies?

Buy an appliance cord at HD or Lowes. It will have a 120V plug on one end and three wires on the other. Connect the two insulated wires to your heater and connect the ground to the metal tube if you can. Be aware that by using a 240V element at 120V your power output will be 1/4 of the rating...

Questions on running 2 120v elements on 1 PID

Yes, you can control two SSR's with one PID. Your PID control voltage runs to the two SSR'S in parallel.

    Better Call Saul

Jimmy's older brother is "hypersensitive" to EMR. There's a town in West Va. that has government radio telescopes and all EMR-generating is banned. No cell phones, combustion engines, flourescent lights, WiFi. People with this disorder (real or imagined) are flocking to this town. We're all...

    topping up wort with water

Use 0.12 gal/lb of grain as your absorption. That will tell you how much "extra" water to add to the mash to account for grain absorption. preboil volume + grain absorption volume = mash+sparge volume.

Of my 20 lb split of Lt Munich, 9 lbs go to stonebrewer and 11 to me. Since I got 9 advanced from him (you da man!) I'm good until our next get-together. @masonsjax Glad you liked the SMASH, but the main reason I made it is the assload of Vienna I already have

    Cleaning a fermenter

I fill about halfway with OxyClean or PBW, put a solid stopper in it, shake it and flip it upside down in a milk crate. Come back the next day and give it another shake. If I need to brush, the softened ring comes off easily. Don't leave them for too long before doing this, though.

Tony, I've got about 9 pounds of Light Munich committed to the next two week's brews. If my grain doesn't show tomorrow I'll be paying LHBS prices. :( If you can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.
