    2.5 gal Batch

Yea I think I would prefer 240v. I have seen a video somewhere... of making an extension cord and adapter to plug into dryer plug etc. Not sure about that though. One criticism someone brought up was the use of 20w plug on the cord not paired with 30amp breaker. I'm no electrician by any...

    2.5 gal Batch

Yep was thinking that extra 1 gal space would give some breathing room. Do you use wort chiller or ice bath with kettle?

    2.5 gal Batch

Yes, it is definitely on my radar. I have read reviews and watched vids on it etc. Mostly positive... how is yours working for you? Likes/dislikes?

    2.5 gal Batch

That makes sense. I know there are more options for bigger batches too... like spike solo, clawhammer ... but getting down the rabbit hole pretty quickly for a newbie haha

    2.5 gal Batch

Sammy which one do you have?

    2.5 gal Batch

Yes I have been looking at all in ones as well. I'm kind of thinking ahead... about options. I know I have not brewed enough yet to even know what I what... only what I think I need lol. So will get more experience before I actually purchase. So just research at this point

    2.5 gal Batch

I am currently brewing 1 gallon batches for learning. Will do 2.5 gal soon. Ideally, I think 2.5 gal batches will be best for me regarding consumption and brewing frequency. I have been looking at ss brewtech mini kettle @ 5.5 gal. I think this would be tight for the odd higher gravity beers...

    Leave in fermenter?

Cool will stick to the full 2 week plan. Thanks!

    Leave in fermenter?

My first 1g batch is a hefe that started off fermenting vigorously. After 3 days took off blow off and added airlock. I did not do starting hydrometer readings... as I did not want to waste beer lol... thought I would just wait the full 2 weeks and then bottle directly from fermenter. At 9...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I did my second batch (myself) this morning ... 1 gallon. So the learning lessons I took away from my first batch were: 1. Measure your initial vol correctly :) 2. Have extra boiled/sanitized water at room temp at hand.. until you have your system figured out anyway... 3. And if doing extract...

    Steeping question.

Well at some point I would like to go 2.5g all grain. I have heard that for 1g its easy to keep mash temp of kettle in oven since it fits. But I think I would like to practice what would work for 2-3. Thinking about a small cooler mash ton and doing batch sparge. The details a bit sketchy to me...

    Steeping question.

hhmm... I believe my wife has pamper chef thermometer with alarm...so maybe I could do that? But my batch after this, I plan on doing my first all grain. So holding 155 for 30 min would be good test run. If I did ... maybe hit strike temp at 160... put in steep bag ... and place in warm oven?

    Steeping question.

But with small batch brewing (1 gal)... initial volume of 1.25 .. i think i will hit 170 pretty quick... The recipe from NB calls to start steep at flame on for 20 min or until 170. Maybe a steep for 30 min at 155 is best?

    Steeping question.

Excellent! You perfectly answered a question I was going to pose ... as i have an extract/steeping brew day tomorrow :) Thanks!! After this batch i will try an all grain

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Uh maybe i was not clear. I was asking... should i pour wort from my kettle thru a strainer/funnel into my carboy... or use a siphon? Which is best or most commonly done?

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Hi I am planning to brew again tomorrow. My first ever batch, I just poured my wort through a strainer sitting on top of a funnel into my carboy. I do have a siphon... is it better to rack than the pour? What do most 1 galloners do?

    Low Carb

Well I do not have an answer for that as I did not mix up the primer. I participated in the brewing and bottled it.. but i did not do all the steps myself... or was shown what was done there. So yea... that being the case... I'm hoping it just needs more time and not insufficient priming.

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Some foam came out as expected. Nothing the Mason jar could not handle. This the 4th day and just some regular burping. Removed the blow off hose and just using the 3 piece now. So all good :)

    Refrigerate Dry Yeast?

    Thanks will check those out!

    Low Carb

I bottled an all wheat beer... today is the 10th day. The first 7 days their storage were at 75-76F. The remainder at 70F. I decided to open a test bottle... and while there is a fizz at opening and a head with an aggressive pour... it is decidedly a bit flat. I expected more carbonation at...
