    Question about dry hopping?

So if the beer should be settled out and fairly clear before dry hopping should it be cold crashed first? Will a dry hopped beer benefit from two cold crashes? If you cold crash then bring the temp up to dry hop then cold crash to make it clear and settle out before bottling will that effect...

So I kegged this Sunday... It was cold crashed at 34 degrees for 2 days and then racked direct to the keg. I force carved at 26 psi for 36 hours and put at serving pressure of 12psi. I pulled a draght and it has little to no hop aroma. The color is nice, but it isn't clear. First sip is a...

Do we have to let active oxygen dry completely....even if it takes half a day?

Hydrogen peroxide can be used as mouthwash and for cuts and is even used as an injected therapy. I'm not sure what it would do to flavor, but it shouldn't hurt you at all... Don't take my word tho. I do wonder now... Since it breaks down to water and oxygen, could it be used to oxenegate wort?

    Fermenting Yeast Exposed To Air

maybe he took the BIB instructions to a whole...nuvvah..level... lol If its in a gallon ziplock, I would make sure to check on it every 15 -20 min or so for the first two days... depending on the yeast, temp, fermentables, etc. if it kicks off hard you might just hear a loud "POP" and have...

    conditioning

Many people say after bottling or kegging to let a beer condition. Some people primary and bottle after 2 weeks. Would a month primary and force carbing a keg be the same as 2 week primary and 2 week condition? When does conditioning start? In the bottle? In the FV? If I cold crash for a...

One more thing. Dry hop before or after or during cold crash?

From what I understand many people dry hop in the keg till its kicked. What is the difference between leaving in 3,5,14,30 days? I really like bitter fruity piney IPAs so I think I am going to stick with 14 days. I also think I'm going to add a 1/2 oz of Amarillo when dry hopping since I have...

2nd All Grain Recipe help (IPA hopefully)

    I just finished cleaning up after brewing today. I changed the recipe to this: Amt Name Type # %/IBU 8 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 1 64.0 % 4 lbs Munich Malt (9.0 SRM) Grain 2 32.0 % 8.0 oz Barley, Flaked (1.7 SRM) Grain 3 4.0 % 0.50 oz Bravo [15.50 %] - Boil 60.0 min...

Awesome. Thanks for the link. I'm sure it will come in handy. I just checked the gravity on my first all grain batch which I thought was an IPA, but I'm told because of when I added the hops its more of a Czech bitter.... It definitely has some nice bitter bite, but virtually no hop flavor or...

2nd All Grain Recipe help (IPA hopefully)

I just got the free trial of beer smith so I could play with it... I'd appreciate the kinks regarding the hops... Are there certain pairings of hops that don't work well at all? Has anyone made a beer that solely based on the type of hops combined resulted in an undrinkable beer?

Would halving the 60 min knock it in the 75ish range for IBU? I know higher alpha hops add more bittering when added at the beginning of the boil. What happens to flavor/aroma when adding a higher alpha hop to the end of middle of the boil? If two hops have the same alpha, and are added at...

2nd All Grain Recipe help (IPA hopefully)

So I am getting geared up to do my second all grain batch. I just went to my LHBS today and picked up a few things... any ideas on this? I like just making my own recipes rather than going off someone elses.... I am just wondering if the type of hops sound ok for that schedule or if I should...

One more thing. How long does it take you to brew all grain? From start up (getting supplies together and out to the garage) to finished (all pots, mash tun, equipment cleaned)?

Another week of cold aging made a huge difference. This beer is so easy to drink now and the sweetness mellowed out a ton... I'd make it again..

I'm assuming the caravienna is crystal malt? Lol. I didn't know that... I thought it was just a different kind of grain more for color.. Oh well. So when you say no flavoring hops, do you mean a specific type? Specific AA%? I thought bitter, flavor, and aroma hops were determined on when you...

What do you think of the recipe? 90 min boil. I didn't hit the OG. It came in at 1.066. Probably because of poor sparging? I batch sparged starting with 5 gallons of water and it stayed at 154 degrees for 75 minutes then I slowly ran off that and when it slowed dramatically (to a trickle)...
