    fire place tips

+1 to Arturo and to Chshrecat with Arturo's method being easiest. Be careful with using a lot of paper to start a fire, because if your chimney is not clean you can start a chimney fire, trust me you don't want this. I saw one at my sisters house. Think of a 30 foot blow torch. Be sure to have...

    Slow Ferment?

Today makes 2 weeks that my APA has been fermenting. It is still showing signs of airlock activity at a rate of about 1 bubble per minute. I know that airlock activity is not a good indicator of fermentation, but I have never had any activity at this point in the ferment. I mean if it is still...

Insert Tab A into Slot B

I came home one Friday expecting to throw my hunting stuff in the truck and head to the woods for the weekend. Swmbo says "the kitchen sink is clogged and you need to fix it before you stay gone all weekend" ****! No draino so I grabbed a clothes hanger for a quick snake. Sink starts to drain...

    Buying/Installing Windows in my house

That is 2 of my bigest complaints with the sliding doors, that and security, but that is helped by a 1x3 layed on the track behind the slider.

    Buying/Installing Windows in my house

Look at some of the national manufacturers (MW, Pella, Marvin) websites to get some ideas and then get some local quotes. If the windows are in fact a custom size I would either let whoever is selling them to you measure them (if you decide to self install) or buy a complete package installed...

    Half wine bottles

My lhbs sell them in various styles and colors ranging from 28 to 32 per case. I aggre with not using them for beer, they are not rated for carbonation. You need champagne bottles for that

    Filtering Bottle Conditioned Beer

The length of time your beer stays cool has a lot to do with how settled and compact the sediment layer becomes. A week or more in the fridge will cause the sediment to be like a brick and will increase the amount of pour you get sediment free. Watching your pour carefully and you will see a...

    Home Electrical Mystery: Need Advice

Long Shot but I thought I would ask.Do you have a gas log fire place? I seem to remeber a few years back that a company I worked for was shown a model that either controled the log lighting or fan motor with a low voltage switch I can't remember the model (we did't end up using the fireplace)...

    Fruit additions

Taking into account the amount of yeast cake you will allready have the bottom of your primary moving to a secondary may be a better choice, as well as the aeration issues listed above. I would also recomend using a mesh bag to contain the fruit. I had considerable problems with free floating...
