The Lousy Smarch Coffin Keezer build

Drip tray has no drain as I didn't want to have to complicate the inside with drilling another hole and running more tubing. My plan is to just mop it out when needed with a bar rag. The backs plash tile I got at Home depot. Not self-adhesive, but it was on a mesh netting. I used a...

The Lousy Smarch Coffin Keezer build

Hey smarch0, Thanks for posting your build. I ripped it off in damn near every way! About the only thing I did differently was to use a 2-part pour epoxy on top. I embedded some grains, hops, and a drip tray in the epoxy.

What are some of the mistakes you made...where your beer still turned out great!

I can't believe I just found this thread. I've made plenty of epic bonehead moves. The ones where I didn't have to dump: Exploded what I figured was the entire krausen out of my dunkle. Got home from work on monday after brewing Sunday. The airlock was clogged and audibly hissing. I pull the...

Anyone know where to buy a Cylinder for Beer Gas on Long Island NY?

Seems like people want a bloody fortune for them. I've seen $150 shipped! I'm trying to get my stout on Nitro for the weekend and found a nice kit quasi local but I can't seem to find a damned cylinder! Made some calls today and found a 60 LB cylinder for nearly $250 bucks but that's a LOT of...

    Founders Oatmeal Chocolate/coffee stout..

Fired this one up yesterday for my second AG. I mashed with 4 gallons and sparged with another 4. I had a lot more loss during mash because I ended up with just under 6 in my pot. I added about another gallon. I think I also lost more due to evap since it was colder with a nice breeze since I...

Passive oxide layer on new aluminum pot

I recently received a 10gallon aluminum pot for my bday from my woman. I didn't oxidize it like whats being recommended here and other place. I washed it out with soap and a scrub/sponge thing, and noticed the water turned GRAY. I knew that wouldn't be good for the beer so I did scrub it a bit...

Looking for advice on a REALLY Stubborn Belgian...

Its going well. I'm down to 1.022ish and the taste has dramatically improved. I'm planning on sampling it again today for a grav reading. I had moved the carboy upstairs which brought the temp up into the low 70's. I had wrapped it in a electric blanket and a bath robe and tried to bring it up...

Looking for advice on a REALLY Stubborn Belgian...

Picked up the 3711 Sunday. Finished the stir plate Monday and fired up the starter. Pitched the starter last night at about 11pm. A thin white krausen has formed and the air lock is bubbling. I know the air lock bubbling doesn't necessarily mean much. I'll take a grav reading this weekend and...
