Induction Top for Just the Decoction Step

Is anyone using an induction cooktop for doing a decoction? I'm asking about just the decoction step, not heating the entire mash. I'm building (still) an all electric 3-vessel HERMS system with the EBC-330 controller for my new basement brewery and was thinking that, if and when it comes time...

The High Gravity Electric Brewery Thread

I do have the whirlpool arm in the new BK. My max boil volumes in the past have topped out at 6.75 gallons (I usually shoot for around 6.5 gallons) and I had a whirlpool arm in my old 10-gallon G1 and 6.75 gallons in the boil did not present any issues even with a fairly rigorous boil.

The High Gravity Electric Brewery Thread

I'm still in the setup phase for my 3-vessel HERMS with the EBC-330 for 5-gallon batches. The vessels are all 10-gallon G2's with 3750 W Boil Coils in the HLT and BK. I've written down what I believe should be all of the brew day steps for this new system in an effort to identify possible...

Completely vapor locked - Help me pick a turn key system

Used to live in Sugar Hill (north of Atlanta) and shopped at Brew Depot in Alpharetta - they used to do brewing classes there, perhaps they still do - worth checking out if you haven't already. They'd be able to get you started with your all-grain set up and the owner, Bob, is a wealth of...

    Silicone/Rubber Trivets 17" dia.

I did quite a bit of searching recently, even got a couple of quotes and one came in at just over $1200 for three 14" High-Temp Silicone Mats. Wow! Amazon has 12" x 12" squares for close to $15 each (the red stuff - pretty thin, me thinks) but then I saw SS Brewtech's. Sold!

    Silicone/Rubber Trivets 17" dia.

I've got the SS Brewtech ones under my 10-Gallon kettles - nice. They actually come in at just under 14" which is plenty big for my kettles. If your kettles taper down to a footprint that is smaller than the max outside diameter (like the G2's), these might just work for you.

The High Gravity Electric Brewery Thread

Nice avatar! Still in the set-up phase on my 3-vessel HERMS system from High Gravity - 5-gallon batch size, 10-gallon kettles. Went with the 30 A controller figuring I'll ease my way into this electric brewing stuff. Doing a lot of thought experiments while getting it set up and am scratching my...

First brew with the electric steup

I'd be interested to hear any issues you may have had dialing it in, and what you did to fix/change it. I'm assembling a 3-vessel HERMS now and should be firing it up in a matter of weeks - never brewed electric before and would appreciate the insight.

    Howdy from Ohio

Ok, not really a new brewer per se, been brewing 5-gallon batches (all grain) since 2012 but have not touched the stuff for the last 3+ years due to a couple factors - kids, and moving from Georgia to Ohio. Starting back up soon - still have all my old gear - burner, kettles, glass carboys...
