When I take the plunge I'm starting with BIAB.

    How did you start...?

This is why this forum rocks! I would have never thought to look for something like this, easy way to see just how chemistry can change your beer. Otoh, If I keep reading posts here I'm sure I'll end up going broke LOL. But at least I will be drinking good beer!

    How did you start...?

I got a kit in a can back in the 90's. Instructions said to combine with corn sugar and boiling water then ferment. It was awful but inspired me to find a lhbs. FF after a 15 year absence from brewing I'm just getting ready to brew my first batch and I'm stoked!

I am going to brew a english brown ale and plan to cold crash. Would adding a clarifier during the boil be any benefit?

    Priming question

Thanks for waking me up LOL! As soon as I read your reply I wondered how I did not realize that. Since I am going to be brewing my first batch in about 15 years I'm just going to play it safe and use a bucket, don't want any surprises. Thanks!

    Priming question

Hey guys I have a question about bottle priming I was thinking about bottling right from the primary fermentor. Can I mix up the priming sugar and dump it right into the primary or would I be better off using fizz tabs. I have read mixed reviews on those and also read some folks use Domino...

Question about Temperature in my Chest Freezer

This looks interesting. How consistent is the wort temp throughout the fermentor? Also what is the lowest temp you have achieved? Thanks!

Who do you order your beer kits from?

Just ordered a kit from love2brew. They have a good selection of 2 1/2 gallon kits and BIAB as well.

    Induction Plates

I seriously doubt I will brew 5 gallon batches. I have in the past but at this point in my life I would rather stay with 2 1/2 extract, but i am interested in progressing to 3 gal BIAB. So your point is well taken for a larger kettle. I have been looking at 8 gal as they seem to fit both...

    Induction Plates

Ok, got it. 240v it is. Hmm, maybe I can get the wife to " suggest" upgrading the cook top before the remodel :ban: I am planning on doing full volume, so maybe five gallon pot would be a better choice. Now I might just have to look at the Anvil 5.5 Extract for now but have been looking at...

    Induction Plates

Thanks for the recommendation. I assume the 120v units are to small for even a 3 gal boil. We are planning a kitchen remodel in about a year and are planning to go with a induction cook top. I was hoping i could get away with a smaller 120v unit until then. Yes the pot is tri clad for induction...

    Induction Plates

So I'm getting back into brewing and starting to gather equipment. I am looking at the Update International 16 qt ss brew pot for 2 1/2 gallon batches. I am considering getting an induction plate to brew inside in Florida summers as my range is a coil electric. What should I look for in a...

    Back in the saddle

Welcome from Florida! I just jumped back in after a too long absence, hoping its like riding a bike. I spent 3 years in Europe and visited the UK many years ago. That experience is what made me realize I was not really drinking beer.

    New to forum

Hey everyone, Hello from steamy Florida! I am new to the forum and have been away from brewing for about 15 years. Work, motorcycles and life forced me to put home brewing on hold. My brewing experience was 5 gallon extract so I'm staying with that for now however I think I'll scale down to...
