    SS Brewtech Keg Washer (WaSsher)

I am asking my wife to get me this for my birthday... I think. Does anyone have experience using it to clean something other than kegs? I would like to find a way of automatically cleaning my SS Chronical as well. Seems to me, after cleaning kegs, I could possibly manipulate the parts and clean...

    Removing hoses from barbs

I’m having difficulty removing hose ends from barbs, when needed. Some stay connected, of course, like the Co2 lines in my kegerator. Others need to be disconnected once a month or so, include the beer lines. To run line cleaner through the beer lines I’ve got to remove the quick disconnects...

    FTSs extensions

Does anyone have experience using the SS Brewtech Chronical and FTSs coil extensions? https://www.ssbrewtech.com/products/copy-of-ftss-chiller-coil-extensions-7-gal?_pos=6&_sid=64e431407&_ss=r I’m fermenting in the garage, using the FTSs and an ice chest. I’ve got the temp probe in the...

    Poppet O-Ring

Hello fellow brewers. Got a used pin-lock keg, an old coca-cola. I replaced all the poppets as I have done with other kegs, with ferroday ones. The gas post is giving me problems. The o-ring on the poppet creeps up into the crack when I put on the post, so that you can actually see a little of...

    SS Brewtech Chronical, thermowell

Hello everyone, I’m currently fermenting the first batch for which I’ve used the SS Brewtech Chronical, and the FTSs. It’s a Kölsch, using Safale US-05. If you’re familiar with this equipment, you know that both the fermenter AND the FTSs lid have thermowells. I also purchased a Brewtech...

    Hop Pellets longevity

The HSI.... Those losses are measured when the hops are vacuum sealed in a freezer? I don’t understand the storage when HSI is measured. I still have a lot to learn, I know.

    Hop Pellets longevity

Like I said, Summit is cheap on Yakima. I read into it and seems like a lot of people hate that hop, seem to get an onion-garlic flavor from it. How many oz are these people using? I likely wouldn’t dry hop with it, but maybe add an oz along with an oz of Fuggle at 10 mins. Then maybe whirlpool...

    Hop Pellets longevity

Thanks for that great info Day Tripper. Good thing most of what I ordered was Magnum! Also some Perle, Summit (CHEAP right now on Yakima Hops y’all) and just a little bit of Styrian.

    Hop Pellets longevity

How long should hop pellets last? I’m stocking up on a pound of everything from Magnum to Fuggle to Summit to Eroica. Some are 2017 harvest, some 2018. All are being shipped. If I get them, break them into smaller 1oz vacuum sealed bags, and freeze them, I will expose them to oxygen right away...

    Two-Year Old Hops From LHBS

Sheepishly, I know that’s true. However, I love supporting my LHBS, especially right now. Good people, and they’ve always been there for me. Shipping speed and care for shipped products has always been top-notch too. It’s a few bucks more than Yakima (I actually did place a couple orders on...

    Two-Year Old Hops From LHBS

Hello all, My LHBS is selling hop pellets by the pound for around $13-$16, from 2017 harvest. Anyone have experience with bulk hops this old? I would imagine a reputable LHBS (and this one is GREAT!) would only sell them if they’ve been well-kept and all that. I’m just starting to buy hops in...

    Stopped (stuck fermentation)?

On the iPhone, if you hold down the “o” for a sec on your keyboard, options come up for other o’s... like the umlaut. You slide your finger to the one you want before letting go. Screen shot:

    Stopped (stuck fermentation)?

Kölsch, all-grain, and initial ferm temp was 66. I don’t have a way to heat it up. It was only in the 50’s for two days... back up to mid-60’s after that, but I don’t have a way to heat it any higher. I take readings with both a refractometer and a hydrometer to back it up.

    Stopped (stuck fermentation)?

So excited to use my Chronical fermenter and FTSs with a water cooler for pump, and everything went GREAT!!!..... for two days. After wort cooled I took a SG reading. 1.064, AWESOME! When transferring the cooled wort to my fermenter, I used a wort aerator attached to the end of the siphon hose...

    Water line to garage, cheap

Is PEX pipe really necessary if I’m not using the water for drinking? The water will be used to rinse, to create StarSan solution, and to flow through my immersion chiller. Not for wort. Is that a bad idea?

    Aquarium chiller for FTSs

It sounds like I could possibly, POSSIBLY get by without the chiller, at least until temps get into the 100’s here in TX

    Aquarium chiller for FTSs

That makes sense, thanks! Still wondering, though, is the pump still placed in a separate cooler, or in the chiller somehow? What’s the purpose having two reservoirs of water?

    Aquarium chiller for FTSs

I get that, just honestly don’t have room for another fridge or ferm chamber. I still don’t get how the pump works in coordination with the aquarium chiller. I know the probe in the thermowell controls the pump, but don’t know how to coordinate between cooler and chiller. Thanks and cheers!

    Aquarium chiller for FTSs

Hello again, friends! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy in this tough time. My question is about keeping ferm temps down in my garage. I live in Ft Worth, so we’re talking cooling here, not heating... at least for the coming several months. I might address heating next winter if I...
