    Pumpkin Ale with Kveik Yeast

It was Voss. 1.060 OG and finished at 1.013. I might need to take another reading to be sure. Maybe it did dry out.

    Pumpkin Ale with Kveik Yeast

I think it’s the recipe, too. Or they messed up the weights. It’s just so thin and bland. Again, it could be my calculations when reducing the recipe from a 5 gallon batch to a 4 gallon batch. Oh well, it drinks. Just tastes more like a bud light.

    Beer tastes flat/watery - help

I know this may seem odd, but what yeast did you use? Did you temp control? You said first batch ever. You mean ever ever or just with the foundry? Was it all grain extract? What kind of water did you use? What was your OG and FG? The flat taste is probably carbonation but the title also says...

    Pumpkin Ale with Kveik Yeast

Just want to report back that mine did not turn out haha. It’s real thin and watery. Could have been the recipe, could have been my calculations (recipe was for 5 gallons but I reduced it to 4), or maybe the LHBS messed up when weighing my grains. Too many possibilities but either way, if i try...

How long is too long for primary fermentation?

Sounds like you worked it out but I just kegged one today that was in primary for 3 weeks. I find it beneficial to keep it in primary for 3 or 4 weeks because everything settles to the bottom and I get a good clean rack. Yes I could cold crash but I often don’t. I’m a fairly patient person...

Kegerator build: need help deciding how many taps

This Evabarrier is incredible. It’s small enough I can feed the co2 line between the door seal without having to drill another hole in the fridge. It can also bend 90 degrees without kinking. I just cut a small styrofoam block to go over the line to cover and insulate that little bit of gap left...

Kegerator build: need help deciding how many taps

I have an MFL on my regulator, just to confirm if anyone knows: when connecting the duotight fitting to mfl that does NOT have the plastic on it like ball locks do, I need that little white washer, correct?

Kegerator build: need help deciding how many taps

I am having a hard time deciding between 3 and 4 taps. I’m probably going 4 because I know I can keep at least 2 beers at any given time, I can always make a mead or cider because it takes like 5 minutes and some nutrient additions to make, and thinking about doing soda on the other one. This...

    The high abv trend

Whenever I am gearing up for some down time from drinking I always make sure I’m stocked with a lot of diet soda and various herbal teas. The biggest part of beer, for me, is that it gives me something to look forward to during the day. When I’m doing some detox/taking time off it helps to have...

Kegerator build: need help deciding how many taps

And a good clean setup it is. It’s great.

Kegerator build: need help deciding how many taps

Hey @Knightshade do you see any issues with putting the regulators inside the fridge? Since Im using Evabarrier tubing I could possibly forego drilling a hole for the gas. If I put the regulators outside like you have them I would have to drill into the side.

Kegerator build: need help deciding how many taps

I’m so certain that no one cares at all but I decided to do 4 taps instead of 3 because I found this on more beer and I figured if I couldn’t keep 4 kegs filled I could get this growler filled with something good and keep it on that fourth tap. Plus 4 taps just look better then 3. I’d do 5 but I...

    New or used co2 tank

Completely agree. I have a 5 lb backup too. I bought it from the LHBS a while back because I didn’t know of anywhere else to get them and didn’t know any better. It was new and expensive. This 20 lb is used and just got it’s recertification. It looks just fine to me. Now that I got it I don’t...

    Bottled soda from BiB

Never mind I got that figured out. This sounds like a good cheap way to have some soda at home.

    Bottled soda from BiB

How do you dispense from the bag without a post mix? Is there anyway to rig up a spout? I would love to get a setup but it seems there is not a viable option under $1000. I have plenty of corny kegs, co2, and water though.

    New or used co2 tank

When you say gas post washers you mean the gaskets on the posts? Like the o ring? Amazon a good place for those plastic regulator washers? I went with the 20 lb tank from the welding place. Something like $26 for swaps. It’s food grade. Also aluminum. It should last me a pretty ridiculously...

    New or used co2 tank

Yea that would suck. I’ll have to do some thorough leak tests.

    New or used co2 tank

I’ve done that man there is just nothing out here.

    New or used co2 tank

The problem with this is I have looked on Craigslist. I don’t have a Facebook and never will so I can’t check there. I haven’t seen a tank or even much homebrew stuff in over a year on Craigslist. Getting it from the gas place might be my best option unfortunately.

    New or used co2 tank

I’m leaning toward that. They said it would be like $25 to refill. I still have gas in my 5 lb tank and I’ve had that for like a year and a half.
