    So who's brewing this weekend?

I am totally with you on the "no more improvements" part. I think I am there too!

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Hoping to brew a SMASH Saison this weekend. 1 TEN GALLON batch. 3.33333 gallons will be fermented straight, 6.666666 gallons will be fermented with 3 lb of my Dad's honey and then a final split to 3.3333 of the 6.666666 gallons secondaried on Hungarian toasted oak cubes. My Pilsener malt is...

    Ball valve sizes

My experience with 1/2 inch valves and plumbing throughout is I really throttle down using the ball valve at the pump outlet to fly sparge. And then I usually think I sparged too quickly anyway and wonder if I should have just batch sparged.

Cam locks - do I need hose clamps?

I just got some oetiker clamps and the tool. Lower profile relative to worm gear clamp will save the knuckles. Quick return on the investment because the clamps are so much cheaper. And yes, I do use clamps on all camlock hose connections.

    sumac

This thread is very old I realize. Any further forays into brewing with sumac? I am considering splitting my saison (10 gallon brew this weekend) into 3 variants, one with sumac .

    New recipe idea using Sumac

I know this post is ancient history, but.... Did you end up using sumac? I am thinking of splitting a batch of saison this weekend and making half with fresh sumac. I am toying adding it to fermenter, a la wet hopping. Might be risky. Contamination? I am thinking the fresh quality of not...

    Homemade PBW Recipe

I used the same stuff (Lundmark) and followed the recipe. Works well. No direct comparison to the real thing. I think TSP/90 is not anhydrous either but again not sure about the real TSP.

    Open Fermentation

Oops, now I see a bunch of "similar threads".

    Open Fermentation

Due to a fermentation vessel shortage and my curiosity, I am going to try an open fermentation. I have a 6 gallon-ish stainless hot table pan with lid. About a third of my 10 gallon batch of saison will be fermented with some honey open. The remaining two thirds in my small conical (with one...

    Greetings from Scotland

Welcome. I'm in Vermont, USA. Beer is my main focus when it comes to home ETOH production but I usually will make a batch of hard cider every year. We have an abundance of apple orchards in VT. Cider making goes way back in the northeast US.

    WTB - Grain Mill

Turns Coronas are pretty pricey these days, new anyway. Riding on the infamy of it's namesake virus? I'm going with a $99 2 roller. Thanks for all the input
