What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Third here for the Voodoo... Maybe it was because I was so psyched to try it and I built it up so much in my mind.. But it was terrible... really the worst beer I have ever had, including some skunked ones. I didn't think it tasted like Bacon or Maple.. more like a mouth full of cloves that...

    Jumping in with both feet

On the biscuit malt...I am really only looking for a hint of bread flavor...I just thought it would be a little more gingerbread like. I don't want anything over powering. This will probably be one of the areas I tweak in future revisions of the recipe if it comes in a little subdued.. but i...

    Jumping in with both feet

Wow.. thanks for all the responses guys! To answer some of your questions: Hersher: My thought on using som much of the crystal malt was that I wanted this beer to have a nice deep red color being Christmas and all... I originally thought about using carared, if one is better than the...

So... ive got a couple of extract kits under my belt and they have all turned out pretty well. So I am thinking it is time to step up to all grain, but being the impatient SOB that I am.. Im going right into designing my own recipe and not even bothering with a kit first... I know.. probably a...

    Noob Bottling error

Sooo... I was at the LHBS the other day before bottling to get caps and I thought to myself, "Hey, maybe you don't have enough bottles, you should probably pick up some more.... Nah.. I have enough, just get the caps" I thought this because I felt like I only had about 2.5 to 3 gallons of...

Best Beer to bring to Vegas??

I'll probably just bring a case.. Velvet Rooster is 8% abv.. I'm assuming it will put these kids on their ass after like 2 of them... Not real big drinkers. Should be an interesting trip.

Best Beer to bring to Vegas??

It's not until November. Want to brew it early so it has some time to condition in the bottle as well. Might order it this weekend. How did you get a 15% discount?

No yeast activity yet! Any thoughts?

Just to add to this.. I did a NB caribou Slobber Extract kit... Was kind of drunk when I made it.. so I am sure i messed up something.. but it took almost 5 days for fermentation to start... Going to be interesting to see what comes out of it. As I've read on here multiple times...

Best Beer to bring to Vegas??

So gonna brew a beer for my wife's cousin's 21st birthday in Vegas... Anyone have any good ideas? I was thinking of Tallgrass breweries Velvet Rooster.. NB is selling them for 50 bucks or so. Anyone have any experience with flying with beer? Airlines seem to be ok with it as long as you...

    Star San convert with caveat

Just started using star- san as well.. Seems pretty simple enough, the only thing that is really pissing me off is it leaves things a little oily, so I am having a real tough time keeping my airlock in the carboy... Seems to keep slipping out due to the residue left by the starsan.

    My last fermentation chamber thread.

So here is where I stand so far.. Sorry for the picture quality, I took it with my phone and did not realize it was so terrible. I will post some better ones later. I hooked up all the wires and got it running. I've actually got a Caribou Slobber fermenting in it right now. Still...

    Adding water to fermentor

So I brewed NB Caribou Slobber yesterday and my volume came out to be about 4 gallons.. OG was 1070... Supposed to be 1051. Do you all think it would hurt anything if I added some distilled water today after I have already pitched the yeast? (Was not in any shape to drive to the store...
