    FastFerment conical

I agree, that's what I've been doing for a while now. But the last time I gave it that extra 1/4 turn the lid actually cracked between the top and side of it. It was a bummer. I used some plastic epoxy to get it sealed up for this fermentation.

Are you using the new thicker silicone gasket on your lid? I'm using the new gasket and even with that I really have to crank down on the lid to get a good seal.

    FastFerment conical

Last night I dropped the final collection ball on my first batch using the FF. All the sediment was in the collection ball and it was all beer above in the conical! But guess what? There was a steady stream of beer flowing through the union valve and the valve was turned off. I tried turning the...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

I received my new gaskets but but since I have something already fermenting I've yet to try them. Luckily i was able to get the original gasket to seal, but I really had to crank down on the lid to make that happen. The new ones are much softer and thicker and since I was able to get a seal with...

    Priming sugar amount?

Soon I will be bottling my first 5 gallon batch. I'm doing a West Coast IPA (Extract). On line there are Priming Sugar Calculators that give you the amount of sugar to use. My question is, “What category is this West Coast IPA considered. For instance if I choose: “Indian Pale Ale” the...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

I’m currently fermenting my first five gallon batch. It’s a West Coast IPA, lots of yummy hops. Last night it was time to drop the collection ball. I couldn’t get the union fitting apart with my hands only. I ended up using a large pair of channel locks on the screw while holding the valve with...

    FastFerment conical

I made a few one gallon batches and just like many others I was “bitten by the brew bug” (bbtbb). I did a lot of research and frankly was overwhelmed by the amount of brew equipment available to home brewers. Now don’t get me wrong I love gadgets and using my hands but for some reason I decided...

    Bottling Tips for the Homebrewer

So I'll be doing my bottling with a Vinator bottle washer using Starsan and a bottle tree. Let's say I wash 50 bottles and put them on the tree. By the time I get through half of my bottling the remaining bottles on the tree may have partially or all the way dried out inside. Some say you...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

I'm hoping I won't have to do any cooling. The unit is in my basement, this is my first year of brewing and I haven't done anything in the summer yet. I don't believe it will get above 70 degrees in the hottest months. Let us know how you do Bottling from the FastFerment. Will you be adding...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

Understood, I took great care when installing the thermal well for the first time. I had my first batch fermenting now and will inspect that area closely while cleaning. Thanks for your insight

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

Regarding the cleaning. Do you leave the thermowell in place? Or, do you disassemble the thermowell after each batch for cleaning?
