Gluten Free Double Chocolate Oatmeal Stout

I simplified this recipe to a 3-2-1 3.3# sorghum 2# dark sugar 1# Molasses Fuggle hops and I dropped 6oz of unsweetened cocoa the last 5 mins of the boil. I have some Great decaf hazelnut coffee that my wife loves and I am going to cold steep some of that at add it at bottling unless I am...

    Need some input

OK guys, wife is tired of the yellow sorghum beers. She wants something closer to a stout or a porter. I have some ingredients on hand that i think might get me close to what she is looking for. I just need a tad bit of advice on a few things. I was thinking of notty yeast and uk fuggles and...

    Did I over do it?

I just took a reading on it, and it actually has some nice roasty notes with a bit of sweetness, rather nice. Gravity on it is about 1015. I'll never use that much again, but i am happy that it tastes the way it does. This was basically a clean out the closet brew. Thanks for the info...

    Did I over do it?

Amber is a very rare British Malt. The grain is dried to about 3% moisture and then heated quickly to above 95°C. The temperature is then raised slowly to around l40°C where it is held until the correct colour is achieved. An interesting alternative to crystal malt in bitters and outstanding in...

    Did I over do it?

Soo, was clearing out some malts that seemed like they would make a good porter. It wasn't until AFTER i mashed in that I realized that honey malt goes a long way. I'm guessing 2 pounds is way to much. Go ahead and chuckle at my expense, i'm sure i deserve it

First all grain. Recipe ideas? Make it difficult

I got my ale down to 59* by putting in a large storage tub and putting frozen water bottles around it and a towel on top. Ambient temp was about 70.

Back on topic I brew all grain and gf for the celiac wife and use same everything. I clean and soak as soon as the wort/beer is done passing through or out and...

    Vanilla Pale?

So SWMBO has some time off from her master's accounting and human education programs and is tired of wine. She is forcing me to bring my extract pot out of retirement and show her how a GF ale is brewed. She is twisting my arm to the point it might snap ;). We are going to make a simple cascade...

    Spigot -- local buy?

You sure can, you just need to know what you're looking for. Most will be in the plumbing section. And some will be in specialty hardware. I have a 1/2 hose barb/ 1/2" mpt with a SS washer and a #10 oring through to my brass spigot. If you have a hour or two to kill just get a cart and load it...

What to do with a keg?

I envy you. Though a bar owner did just give me one. All shiny and made early in 2011. Id actually like to find a pony to do extract batches in and keep it only for gluten free brews

    Brew Kettle

My keggle cost me 20$ in specialty grains that were given to me an the fittings I had lying around from work. I was just given another keg to convert. It's a lot prettier and shinier so it will be the boil pot and the one in the pic will be a mashtun.

    Brew Kettle

Well there is a can of worms. Either is fine. You'll see more brewers lean toward the SS, but aluminum can be used just as well. There are pros and cons to each, just figure out which one better suits your needs
