    Split LODO transfer (3 & 5 g cornys)

Over the next few days, I will be doing a double LODO transfer - an 8 gal batch into two corny kegs, 1 std of 5 gal, and 1 mini sized corny of 3 gallons. Know idea what is best - but here's my plan. I already have a Y splitter barbed valve with ball valve (open/shut) on each stem. Check. I...

What I did for beer today

Swapped out the Irish Red that kicked with the Irish Red in corny #2. Been chilling and carbing in anticipation of the #1 Irish Red on its last few pours. Perfect swap. Ready for duty !!! Cleaned out the Irish Red corny keg along with 2 recently acquired cornies and a spent Czech pilsner . So...

    New brewer from Germany

Finally. .. I am getting around to brewing a Marzen. No clue as this is my first. I looked at a bunch of recipes on BrewFather and came up with this, based on my current grain inventory. 6 g batch size. Brewzilla 100 L with BIAB 6 lb Carolina Malt House Pilsner 1.8 L 3 lb 3 oz melanoidan 31...

    Anyone lager in a keg?

Currently fermenting an 8 gallon Czech Pilsner in a mondo sized 10 g corny megamouth with a BrewHardware customized 1 1/2" triclamp port. This sits inside a smaller freezer turned "cold ferm chamber " via a simple inkbird temp controller. The wort goes in a little below 90° and I let it cool...

What I did for beer today

Busy beer day - did a LODO transfer into two corny kegs. One fermenter was a 6.5g corny, the other was an ss brew bucket. All nice and clean. Cleaned a spent corny of pilsner and both fermenters. Carbing up one of the new batch of English in a corny keg while the other sits and conditions in...

    What are you drinking now?

Latest batch of HB American Brown, Live at the Apollo - a 5.6% ABV version vs a 6.5% original. Very smooth but next batch will have a wee bit more kick. A 6% +/-

Brewing Rut, how do you deal?

The answer is always .... Keep brewing. Try a recipe that is new and sounds tasty. Or , try tweaking an older recipe with modest variations to see what works better. Take good notes as it's too easy to forget. Last 18 months I spent 75% of my brew making on tweaking and perfecting a few styles...

Which Jaded chiller for Brewzilla Gen 4 35 liter, brewing 4 gallons

I use the Jaded Scylla - initially for the 35L Brewzilla and now on the 100L too. Jaded offers other designs better suited for the 100L Brewzilla, but so far (4 batches in, just got it)... The Jaded Scylla is doing fine. Not as well as their model designed for that size, but still very...

How many gallons brewed in 2025

    2172 + 16.5 g Irish Stout + 8.5 g Czech pilsner _______________ = 2197

    So who's brewing this weekend?

My biggest batch (16.5 g) brew day of a Mocha Irish Stout was great. Love the new Brewzilla 100L - I probably could have done a no sparge but I wanted to play it safe. So, an "almost no" sparge batch - had to add about 1 gallons to reach preboil volume. OG and pH came out right on the money and...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Gonna do my biggest batch size ever tomorrow. A 16.5 gal batch of Irish Mocha Stout. Grains have all been measured out - using Carolina Gold as my base malt in lieu of the usual blend of Baird's MO & Simpson's Golden Promise. I like Carolina Gold a lot. Very aromatic and has a taste profile a...

    Kegging vs Bottling

Will echo the same sentiments of several posts with decades of brewing under their belt. Patience. (Depends on the style. Most will take at least a few weeks to "ripen" and mature. Some takes months. ) Plan. Always nice to have variety and making that happen takes careful planning, and...

What I did for beer today

Started the day by kegging up an American Brown, Live At the Apollo, v2.0. cleaned up and ready for another brew day this weekend (planning a 16.5 gal batch of Irish Mocha Stout). Then off to Arc3 to replenish the empty tank of beer gas. Was happy when I saw the 10 g size tank was just $31.95...

    Are pull tabs comming back?

We often used potatoes in lieu of tennis balls for more compression and a tighter fit. Called them potato cannons. I also used an old steel beer can to repair a section of rusted exhaust pipe on a 1962 VW microbus (yeah. With the split window and knobs for turning wipers). Worked great.
