    First ever bottling

When bottling I always did it the same way: 1. heat and cool priming solution 2. add to bottom of sanitized bottling bucket 3. siphon beer quietly on top of the priming solution, coiling the end of the siphon tube once on the bottom of the bucket. 4. stir quietly with a sanitized spoon. 5...

    Multiple regulators required?

Short answer, you need one regulator for each pressure level you want to deliver. Sooooo; If you are picky about your beer, and you want to serve 3 kegs, condition each at a particular pressure and serve each at a different particular pressure, you would need 6 regulators. I am NOT a...

Beer flow reduced to a foamy dribble out of my kegerator

If this reoccurs frequently, you might consider flushing your beer lines, posts and taps each time you sanitize a keg. Its easy to do. Fill a keg half way with sanitizer. Hook it up to gas, pressurize and flow a pitcher's worth out to a scrap bucket. Don't forget to flow the sanitizer in the...

    keezer stored outside

My fermentation chamber has a dual temperature controller. One side is programmed for heating the other for cooling. I have a brew belt plugged into the heating side and the chest freezer itself plugged into the cooling side. Keeps the temp controlled environment limited to the volume of the...

    Wort Chilling

I agree re glass, which is why I specified that I use plastic buckets. And yes, I actually leave the kettle sitting in the back yard, covered, for a few hours to cool before I drop it, even though the data on HDPE suggests it can withstand temperatures above boiling for short periods of time. I...

    Kegging

Everybody has their own experience here's mine. I started out with a 5cf chest freezer as a fermentation chamber. Got a 15 gallon kettle so I could do 10 gallon batches and found the chest freezer was too small for 2 brew buckets. Bought a bigger chest freezer and turned the old one into a 3...

    Wort Chilling

I used to use an immersion chiller. Then I got a fermentation chamber. Now I just drain the brew kettle into the fermentation bucket, drop it into the chest fermentation chamber, set it at fermentation temps and pitch the yeast the next day. Gave the immersion chiller to a friend that was...

Kegging - Crazy Foam / Flow - Tried Longer Beer Line Already

I had the same problems as the OP until I switched from 3/16 Bev tubing to 5/16. Do the calculator and add 5 feet to the beer lines.

Running Two Taps off 1 Keg?

Please refer to all the previous threads concerning tracking down a co2 leak. Imagine if that leak was buried in a wall. You could easily fill a wall cavity with beer before you even knew you had a leak. You don't want drunk mice. Trust me. They are worse than frat boys.

All of my stouts are bottle bombs

Also, if you are consistently getting bottle bombs on the stouts, try omitting the priming sugar when you package. Packaging beer will stir up the beer and could rouse the yeast to return to activity.

    Not carbonated / already refrigerated

I know its hard but you really have to give your yeasties a chance to do their part. Think how disappointed you will be when you are sampling the final 4 beers in the batch, they are finally fully conditioned and they taste great!!! If you are itching, start a new batch, You Do have an empty...

    Kegging space

And also, if the level of beer gets above the bottom of the gas tube, you can get beer sucked back into your gas system and ruin your gages and regulators.

Do I need a ventilation hood?

You may have no worries about co2 in your electric rig, but someone else reading this thread in the future may not pick up on that little tidbit. Stay safe, everyone. When I wanted to tick off SWMBO and she mentioned a co2 detector, I just causally said I'd have her rat dog join me. When it...

New to kegging: leaking post? poppet?

I had a similar leak. I determined that the poppet spring had FALLEN OUT. I had treated the poppet with sufficient lube that the pressure kept it closed and the poppet seal disk in place until I first tapped it. Once the pressure reduced and the poppet disk had been operated, It refused to seat...

Aging stouts in secondary / bottles, is it a must or option?

If you are interested in the affects of long term aging, get an empty beer case and toss in 3 bottles from each batch you brew. Sample them a 6,12,and 18 months and see what you like better.

    Shiner Cheer recipe

when I first did this recipie I chopped the pecans and had problems when the pecan bits got stuck in the bottling wand foot valve. Now I just break them in half.

    Is this keg broken?

Did you actually test the dip tube or just take it out and look at it? Try switching dip tubes with one from a keg that works properly and see if the problem moves.

    Wrong Post Placement?

I have ball lock kegs, so I'm not sure if your kegs are the same color, soooo... I remember that Beer comes out the Black port and Gas goes in the Gray port. I also put a tiny B on one side of the cooler lid and a Gn the other to remember which is which, when the keg is oriented with the PRV...

    "Stained" Corny Kegs?

I think you've found the vikings' magical figures that ensured the beer gods watch over, guide and protect the batch against the evil spirits that cause projectile vomiting, anal leakage and aching eyeballs. I would treat that keg with true reverence. Perhaps a small shrine in your brew room...

    new Kegger, need some advice.

When I put my kegging system together I wanted the option to burst carb a keg for quick turn around. I got a regulator with a dual output. One output is set set at 12PSI for serving the other is set at a higher pressure for burst carbing. However, both regulators have always been set at the same...
